If everything they've done is all part of a negotiation strategy to reduce the rent, it's worked very well! They've bargained ACL down from £1.2m to zero if the stories are to be believed.

But that's the whole issue - it hasn't.

How much revenue have they lost to get to this position?

As we oldies might say - lose a pound to save a shilling....

No I'm saying there isn't an excuse for party politics in this. I was putting forward the right wing view as to why, in this instance, the left wing council is right to stand up to them.

I'm sure there are some idiots like Pete Chambers who have some sort of agenda, but this is a cross party thing. The Conservatives haven't once criticised the councils handling of this to my knowledge.

You are quite right that it should be a cross party thing, I don't believe it is though.

A very well written and informed article which is unfortunately one of the most depressing things I have had the pleasure to read.

Wasn't it a unanimous council vote?

Yes it was, but the debate and vote were held in private. When the councillors came into the main room after the vote all members appeared very happy, and there were lots of allusions in subsequent debates of how united all the parties were that day.

The politics argument was mentioned (by Fisher I believe) in a newspaper article, which mentioned the fact that a Labour-led council didn't like dealing with a right-wing hedge fund - a sort of Socialism versus Capitalism argument.

Are we forgetting that CCCouncil hasn't always been run by a Labour majority??

Mine isn't. I'm a right wing capitalist. Part of that means that if you screw up in business that's your luck out. You don't go and try and sponge off a local authority and peoples hard earned tax revenue to pay for the mistakes you made.

Does that include ACL?

I don't know what the losses are? What are the gains? They're out of 40 year deal at £1.2m p/a.

No, but if you're such a fan of private enterprise they can surely raise money privately? Or are you the equivalent of a champagne socialist i.e. an orange squash capitalist?

What do you think of the government bail out of HBOS and RBS?

I said 'they'. I gave no view on whether I care. If you attempt to argue anything on here without resorting to SHITZU or other childish rants you are accused of all sorts.

But if its cheaper to get it through the council then what's the point? That's the trouble with politics, too much ideology and not enough common sense. If ACL as an independent business can pay a rate of 2% to the council, or 4% to YB, then they would have to be stupid to not get the money off the council.

In principle I didn't agree with the bail out, however in the real world sometimes you have to look at what is the best outcome for all concerned, not what is ideologically right. I certainly don't agree with bailed out banks paying their bosses huge bonuses with public funds.

if they default on the LOAN and the council write it of meaning ACL survive being wound up, then i guess it would. Until then, no.

His conclusion that that Sisu/Otium are going to use the JR to seek punitive damages from CCC/ACL for loss of income seems to based on comments made on here.

This article will then be used to back up comments on here that Sisu/Otium are using the JR to seek damages from loss of income.

So it goes round and round, supposition and hearsay repeated enough becomes truth for some, and nobody gets any closer to knowing any reality.

Of course ,and that comes from both ends of the Spectrum,It should end with the JR but It won't ,Judgement can be subjective as we've seen .How much are they all willing to waste on this.

Fair enough. I agree on your first point. I don't blame ACL for getting the best possible deal. I do blame the council IF they've been stupid enough to not ensure that the loan was in compliance with the State Aid regulations.

It was indeed a good read but one part of a sentence stuck out for me and it was "The Football League should, for the sake of its own integrity".

The FL have shown sod all integrity in this farcical situation, in fact I would go as far to say that things got demonstrably worst when they became involved.

Wrong was'nt It. the source of the Problem being Mortgages and loans that were percieved as beyond repayment ,I'm not convinced on that one.

If you're going to print a few hundred Billion and pump it back In, It would have been better to Deal with Issue at source and remove the risk on those loans at source ,IE; Through the Populace ,not for those propped up Institutions to sit on and sort their own mess out.

Its a bit like our situation ,should CCC give SISU the keys and let them do whatever or ,If the Value really Is only £4M, Unite the ground with Fans .There are Gov't funds to aid Supporters purchasing back Where grounds have become seperated from their Clubs,I mean why would anyone not want to play in their home City In such a Scenario.

Hand the whole lot over for whatever price Seppalla declares. Accepting the rent free option makes the council look like the good guys and Seppala's hubris won't let her do that-her personal agenda won't budge.

Yes and, again, it was SISU, through ML, who broke the silence again to "have a go". He's turned out to be no better than the twat, Fisher - but we know who's really pulling the strings all the time don't we?
