We were a league 2 club and if the vote had been taken we could have been a championship one today.

lots of work still to do off the pitch but what a phenomenal job Robins and Boddy have done.

Any room for any credit to the owner?

Ahh SISU. Our cherished owners. Give me a couple of years and I’ll be able to tell you. This is a really tough time ahead and we may be one of the clubs that is best prepared for changes. SISU is purely business and they are ruthless to the extent that they have no hesitation in holding or quitting. The fans mean nothing to SISU. I haven’t read any of the upper management tryIng to bridge that gap created by them (on the whole).

We may have 10 points head start on some of the clubs.

No. But can't be bothered to to write out again all of the reasons why.

Not yet, They haven't repaired the damage they have caused yet. Get us back playing in Coventry and fighting at the right end of the Championship and then we'll talk.
The club has made a remarkable turn around in the last couple of years and everything seems really well run these days. The quick rise back up has been infinitely more fun that the years of treading water with concrete armbands though.

If it had been Hoffman and Elliot taking the council on over the non-negotiable £1.2M a year rent and breaking the lease and having to leave the city, the reaction to it would have been a hell of a lot different.

Dont think I'd ever go so far as to praise SISU or say they've done well.
They're, well, they're there. That's all I can say. They made a great choice in re appointing Robins, they've got us running a profit (ish) rather than the bloke they took over from.

Robins and Boddy, however! Robins is now, EASILY, the best and most successful manager of a lot of fans (including my own) lifetimes! Long may it continue. PUSB

so much of it is PR and the way you sell something
That is why Fisher was a complete disaster together with Waggott

Boddy is probably doing much the same, but with empathy for the fans, and therefore comes across so much better.

There just does seem to be a much more positive vibe to the club instilled by MR and the management team, where it is no longer acceptable to say

"It's Cov innit!"

It’s taken 2 homeless trips and relegation to league 2 for them to finally figure out how to run a football club.

2011-2017 has been an absolute shit show of decline. If they get a cheaper rental deal or get a new stadium going they will in actual fact have the club in a better position when they found it.

+ Losing mentality gone
+ clear squad identity
+ big rental removed
+ championship side*
+ 2 promotions, 3 trophies and a manger we’re all behind.

- still huge debt
- still no place to call home

get rid of the bottom two minuses and they can be praised

I'd go as far as to say that we are in a better position now than when they took over. Yes, we were in the championship but were losing lots of money and very fast and some of it went to the people in charge. We were a basket case of a club with the millstone of the ground around our necks with a slum landlord who was just raping the club as well the others.
It took us to leave to break the rent agreement. The council have fucked us all the way but there is some hope on the horizon that wasps may well crawl away eventually and we seem to be a better run and more stable club now that we were.

What’s the point in having the club playing in Birmingham. Might as well call the club the Nomads. I guess some fans would embrace that as a Phoenix Club abandoned by the masses.

The club could be playing at Walsall next season. Stuff Wasps, the Council, SISU, Hoffman, the Manhattan Group Preston Haskell, The Thai consortium, Bing, Elliot, Ranson and Jim the Gateman if needs be (Sorry Jim I got carried away). I do hope wasps go bust..I’ll love it...Oh and Kevin Keegan can have a bit as well.

A lot of the list was about balance sheet management...relegation...players downed tools. They did well to get us relegated.

Going back to the Championship where they found us after 8 years in these shit divisions and two exiles, one self-imposed, not quite. Secure a better deal on the stadium or even get a new one built, and compete at the right end of the Championship and then yes they can have some. This season wipes the slate clean if they can make us viable in the Championship, but no more.

So you got the shit beaten out of you and all your stuff robbed, but eight years later and the robbers have brought you chicken soup and refilled your wallet.

In all seriousness if they can leave us better than they found us then they’ll deserve praise. There’s a large stadium sized hole in that at the moment though.

My conditions:

- Same or better division than when they found us :emoji_heavy_check_mark:
- Same or better ground situation :emoji_heavy_multiplication_x:

- Same or better squad quality :emoji_question:

- Same or better finances :emoji_heavy_multiplication_x:/:emoji_question:

So a bit to go yet.

The yearly non negotiable rental agreement was always going to be a problem, regardless of owner.

Not as much of a problem as having to play in Birmingham. My knee is a problem, cutting my leg off isn’t a solution. Until we are in a more stable and financially beneficial situation than we were, it’s not a win. I know that upsets people on here but it’s a fact.

Missed the council being our owners.

Check OP, the question was about our owners.

Going off half cocked and making himself look like a twat, classic cc4l

Fair play to Tim Fisher working away hard in the background turning our fortunes around. Has he any progress made on the new ground does anyone know?

We've gone to the bottom and now we've come back to where we were... The difference is how much we lose every season... I suppose they can get some credit for that.. Weve never owned the ricoh anyway

The club has more saleable assets than its had in many years, its in a good place on the pitch too

For me, if we end up in the Championship (again!) they need us to get back playing in Coventry, by whatever means necessary, and then i will honestly say they have done well, even if its an odd way to go about it.

We all know what they've done, and in the most probably for selfish reasons, but at the end of the day its in their interest the football club is successful, get us back in Cov and it will be!

You do realise we don’t have a stadium and that the franchise will be looking to get as much out of us as possible?

We desperately need our own stadium and to get away from the Ricoh.

The on pitch side of the club has been excellent and our timing in [probably] getting back to the Championship might just give us a chance. As previously, stated by Fisher our business model is okay in L1 & 2, but wouldn't work in the Championship. However, playing BCD's will have a much bigger impact on our competitors than us, especially as our cost base is so much lower than every other team.
In terms of SISU, I cannot forget that in putting the club into receivership they lost the 50% option on the Ricoh.

I don’t think anything needs forgetting, the one thing one of the parties said to me was they couldn’t believe Sisu didn’t take the option of 50% stake. Well ok but how long ago was that and your point cllr duggins is?

The formula price was absurd - around £10m for a sub 50 year lease. It bought nothing

i do realise that yes, but it boils down to the fact we cannot sustain being outside of Coventry.

I'd rather not give the Wasps a penny but i dont think we'd survive at Stans until new stadium is built (3/4 more years?!)

Wasps are screwed, they must be, they will be desperate for us to go back soon and we now have a much bigger negotiating chip.

I'd love a new stadium i just cant see it, a 50% share (to start with) of the Ricoh i can see though

It would be ludicrous to pay them for a 50% stake and I’m sure take on the debt as well - unless we got it for half of what they paid in total with zero debt, I can’t see that happening though.

Obviously we'd only be willing to pay what we thought it was worth, their debt is their problem.

I think us owning part/all the Ricoh is 10 times more likely than building a new ground, and i think is part of SISU plan all along

Credit where it's due, so Yes, SISU deserve credit for letting Robins get on with his job with a budget and little to no interference.

They've learnt from there mistakes and improved no end in the last 3 years.

Won't comment on past mistakes, of which there were many but at the moment they are playing a blinder
Dave Boddy was a very good appointment
I understand his communication is first rate, players, management team and staff are being looked after and it's a happy ship
Helps that we've been winning and top of the league but that's happened because Boddy and Robins have been given resources and allowed to run things
