Woke up this morning to discover I have been aded to a Facebook group entitled 1883 Trust - The Coventry City Fans Forum Supporters Group.

It is merely a Facebook group at the moment, but within 24 hours it has 1,367 members.

The post at the top of the page, which is pinned, says this...

With the recent ongoings and uncertainty surrounding our club we have had enough. There seems to be no support from The Football League or The Football Association. There are constant, faceless statements being released to the press in that are not indicative of the thoughts and feelings of the fans. We need a voice.

Supporters of football clubs can be incredibly powerful, but we need to come together and head in the same direction. This shall be the voice of fans. All thoughts to be shared, will have 1st been polled. There will be no political agenda, just a voice for the supporters of Coventry City Football Club.

So with the recent call for action on this forum, is this group (even though admittedly is in it's infancy) a good thing? I think so yes.

Gota link? Would be interesting to see what's going on. Concerned we end up with multiple supporters groups which isn't really productive.

Already looks like yet another Anti Sisu page. Just what we need. If that's what it turns into I'm out. Needs to be something productive.

They're saying their a supporters trust, aren't there specific rules around that, can you even have more than one?

Don't really get what they're trying to do at the moment to be honest. Would those behind it not be better standing for election for the Sky Blue Trust rather than starting from scratch?

This new supporters group have released the below statement.

New Supporters Group Statement

With our club's future still hanging in the balance, it is time for all fans of Coventry City Football Club to unite. With that at the forefront of our minds, we have decided to establish 'The 1883 Trust' in which anybody can join. Of course, we realise that fans will have their own opinions in regards to the various ongoings at the club, but our main aim is to value the views of each and every one of you. Through polls and other means, we want to create... a democratic voice for the supporters of this once great football club that enables us to be in a position to liaise with the necessary parties.

Of course, we are in the preliminary stages of our venture and we do not expect to have a huge impact instantaneously. However, we do believe that with perseverance we can get our thoughts heard. Whether you are a season ticket holder who attends every fixture or a fan who has given up on watching City, we are all sky blue at heart. The demise of our football club affects all of us and, with the drive and determination we possess in this group, we are dedicated to trying our upmost to make a difference for the greater good of Coventry as a city.

Over the coming months we are looking to recruit as many members as possible to provide us with a driving force. We would like to emphasise that we are not here to spark another 'SISU out' campaign or to lead a witch-hunt against Coventry City Council and Wasps, we just want to offer them all a chance to listen to us fans. If, somehow, we can make them realise that they need to collaborate and do what is best for CCFC then that would be a positive start. So, regardless of whether you watch Wasps or Coventry United or you still attend Coventry City games, let's put our personal views to one side and come together for The Sky Blues.

Surely we have established lines of communication already through the SB trust and the SCG I do not understand the need for another fans group as well meaning as it appears to be.

All through this saga one thing that has been a problem is that the fans have rarely spoken as one voice. The fractured nature of the support has allowed all and sundry to largely ignore the needs of the fans. Without the fans there is no club. Why will the various parties listen to this new group? Another new group further dilutes the influence the fans have I think

Sorry but I don't find the founding of yet another group helpful - but that's just my opinion

Hmm to soft ccc are to blame, wasps are to blame simple we cannot break bread with this lot they are going to fuck club up, simple as that. There agenda is the extinction of CCFC simple this towns not big enough for both us and all that jazz, I cannot see our enemies moving far away enough from there position for there to be a happy medium forever. It will always come down to a battle, I say let's have it now, while we have a chance, this liberal shit won't get us anywhere. That's my opinion.

....they proclaim......whilst busying themselves setting up a rival fan group.

This forum appears in de ja vu mode from a few years back.....

starts with a well meaning thread to catch all protest ideas......but some don't like the way its going so start another "ideas" thread......then another appears....then another...then we get the "I've e-mailed someone totally insignificant & impotent with regards the CCFC situation about how I feel" threads....and then it all snowballs into far too much noise & not enough content.

Just like the Sixfields saga.......all the best protest ideas were lost in the noise & we ended up appearing (to the wider public) to be apathetic to the situation....

All we need now is the resurgence of the NOPM/KCIC arguments & the pointless questionnaire bullshit....its almost as depressing as the perilous state of our moribund club.....

......and in answer to the inevitable "well, at least I've done this....what have you done" question.....

....I've done fuck all....and so far its been just AS effective that all the bluster on here...

I agree.

There's often times I don't agree with the trust, and what they do. But it is undeniable that the only things that got anything like major attention during Northampton were the things the Trust got behind.

Less is more!

In these desperate times for our club, I'm just glad there's some evidence
that people are trying to do anything at all.
Pressure needs to be applied to all involved parties, still think the best and
most effective way forward is to create awareness.
Make sure the local population realise just how dire the clubs situation and
future looks right now.

The more people that attend home games, the harder it becomes for any
of them to make decisions that are bad for the club.
