Signing Harewood or King would be exactly the kind of knee-jerk, quick fix, solution that we've been famed for over the years. Both failed to keep their contracts at clubs in the League 1 relegation zone, are both the wrong side of 30, and would be a complete waste of a wage. They maybe wouldn't be on huge wages, but neither player will move us forward long-term (or even that much short-term to be honest) and would simply be using up wages that could have been spent finding a higher quality, but less 'name' replacement.

I'd rather see us get by with what we have for a few games and make sure that when we do sign a player, it's the right one not just to win a few games this season, but to improve the squad long-term.

Pressley has now said Dagnall didn't sign because we weren't willing to offer him a longer contract. He signed an 18 month deal with Leyton Orient.

No senior players with contracts beyond next season.

I wonder if with Slager it's not more about his fitness and fitting into our system. Urquhart is now behind Willis isn't he, who has been tipped to be decent for a couple of years? So maybe Pressley likes to have young players train for longer than normal to get used to the system?

In Leon's defence, he did slide into the advertising boards pretty hard and looked hurt, had to get treatment. I think he is genuinely injured.

[Play like we did second half at Arsenal and a fit teenager running around up front will cause problems - E for B and Georgie ....Thomas!

Ironic - the only thing he tackled all night was an advertising board - buy me, buy me !

Game might well be off tomorrow anyway if we have much more rain. Might not be a bad thing (unless you're planning to go of course).

The players would have value in a liquidation situation with contracts rather than without.

How can Wolves want an injured player! My gut feeling is he is protecting himself re the transfer
Lets hope this be sorted ASAP for the sake of the team

It ever did Liverpool any harm in the 70's and 80's

George Thomas is a big guy about 5ft 8in tall with dark blond hair, speaks with welsh brummie accent.

He may prove me wrong tomorrow but can't believe the nonsense on hear that if you're good enough you're old enough. There are some obvious exception is but Callum Wilson is nearly 22 this guy is 6 years younger. I thought SISU were going to back the manager and fund the deficit whilst in Northants. 16 is too young I would rather see jordan clarke play there.

I would say chuck him in too, yes we dont have Wilson or Clarke but many league 1 and 2 teams play youngsters. Give him a go, at least he will have no fear and give everything for the team, baker and the other lads will help him out on the pitch, this one game will be good but although I would still agree we do need a experienced striker asap, lets hope this young prospect can shine through.

They have backed him.......into a corner He has tried Jordan Clarke. He has tried Slager. We hear on here that anyone would score goals like Leon has because of all the chances we make. So a defender can't score. Time to try a 16 year old.

Not looking good is it.

Give the lad a chance. He might be playing because he deserves it.

Nobody has had a go at the lad...........but you said yourself that it is a bit strange that we bring in a 16 year old midfielder into the squad most probably to play as a striker. Most of us saw this situation coming months ago. Players get injured and this is the worse time of the season for injuries.

I would guess we will bring in a striker or two. But this won't be until late Friday. It is normally a day of madness. It is worse for us because we will be feeding off the crumbs. It is a bit like the housing market. Most people know what they want, but can't finalise any contracts until the one above them have signed. If anything goes wrong in the chain above most deals below will fail. With players the difference is clubs will not release players until they have a replacement.

The article says he is in squad and May get his debut? Most likely will be on the bench.

I think this is Pressley way of saying, prepare yourself, we're going to lose Clarke and they aren't letting me bring anyone else in.

But then again I could be wrong

Yeah give him a chance. If he bangs in 2 then it will be a great decision by SP. He knows regardless we need 2 strikers anyway. SP knows what he is doing.

How old was MacSheffrey when he had his debut?

Not long ago we were happy when our promising youngters were sent out on loan at a league 1 club.

Not very old, but ISTR he was on the wing with Dublin & Whelan playing up front.

Lets get back to the Ricoh so we can afford to get it out.
Sometimes you need to invest a little to gain a lot. We need a push now into the play offs but with playing 16 year olds it aint gonna happen.

if he is a real long term prospect cant hurt to give him a one off start

not ideal but maybe this will be a great night to remember for him and the fans

He is a tricky left sided player who has put in some fantastic performances for the under 18s. A few of the goals were put on the website before Christmas - both making and scoring goals. I would imagine if he does play tonight it will be on the left with Daniels and Moussa up top.

I'm a bit concerned SiSU will let Clarke go right before the deadline and then claim it was all last minute and there was no time to get anyone in. Still the last time we sold our top scorer in the January window it all worked out well for us

Pressley Is still saying there should be two strikers in ,but It's wait till the end of the window as other options open up to the players Involved by the sounds of It.

I must admit, not prejudging him ... but seriously to blood a striker in that's this age for such a crucial match is crazy. Don't get me wrong I believe in Pressley and I also believe he's not really placed a foot wrong since arriving, but this is desperacy surely. Leon is either going ... in which case we should, as shmmeee is saying get a replacement, or he's not ... but let's be honest, no one believes he is actually injured. And yes, I did see him get treatment on Friday night, but still not convinced.

Didn't we all say that when Christie and Bigirama started against Incester! Give him a chance.
