FFS, just pull the checkbook out and get Leon's replacement in.

Even if we don't sell him it seems we've lost the 30-a-season striker we had.

Marlon Harewood went to Hartlepool on a free last week would have done a job here if only to the summer.

I must admit, not prejudging him ... but seriously to blood a striker in that's this age for such a crucial match is crazy. Don't get me wrong I believe in Pressley and I also believe he's not really placed a foot wrong since arriving, but this is desperacy surely. Leon is either going ... in which case we should, as shmmeee is saying get a replacement, or he's not ... but let's be honest, no one believes he is actually injured. And yes, I did see him get treatment on Friday night, but still not convinced.

Remember when we started a new season with central defense pairing of Cameron and Turner - McPake and Wood on the bench? We won and even kept a clean sheet.
Trust the manager - the generel consensus is that he knows what he is doing anyway. So at least reserve judgement till after the match.

We are getting thrashed tomorrow night without Clarke and Wilson. Scoring has always been our strength as we cant defend. 4-0 tomorrow

Lets get the cheque book out. It worked so well over the past 13 years.

I don't get this Denzel and Urquart situation, why bother signing them and then playing 16 year olds in front of them? I understand that they might not be ready, but is it a good sign that our home bred 16 year olds are better?

I guess you are right Nick but it shouldn't be this situation. Harwood went to hartlepool and Marlon King is a free agent. Not great but much better and goals in them than 16 year old kids in year 11 at school surely?

Nobody has said they haven't backed Pressley. not least the man himself. He's said very little about his targets. I personally would prefer playing a young player over any more bringing in journeymen like King or Harewood.

This has obviously been forced on him due to injuries and other shite, but if Pressley feels he is ready who is anyone to say he is wrong.
Personally I'd prefer to see us sign C.Ronaldo on loan until the end of the season though.

Pressley has now said Dagnall didn't sign because we weren't willing to offer him a longer contract. He signed an 18 month deal with Leyton Orient.

I'd assume the lad has spent the past 12 months working with Pressley's system and knows how to play the role, whereas Denzel Slager hasn't had that luxury and would therefore make the team weaker..?

Injury prone, better than dagnall out there, although bound to score tomorrow night if he plays

I imagine Slager is considered one for the future, which does seen strange as he's much older than the rest of the academy lads. However when I've seen him he hasn't looked to offer us much.

Maund, now where's he? (Have asked on another post so apologies if it's been answered on that one)

Fair point but if Hartlepool can afford him? and king is on no money at the moment he is unemployed so surely a half decent contract would tempt him. Both not the worlds best but 16-18 year olds are not good enough with no experience.

So do you really think harewood and king would come in and play how SP wants them to play ???
Can you really see them pressing the opposition defence ???

They're probably both as stubborn as Leon so I doubt they'd have fit in

Transfer & loan activity in the remainder of the season will indicate where SISU are with regards supporting the playing side.

I have my suspicions about what will happen, but hard evidence is needed to confirm them.

It may just be a story to put in the paper, it may not happen like that.

Pressley knows what he's doing! What's he ever done to make us think otherwise? Good luck to the lad...I'm sure he's being blooded cos the time is right for him, given the circumstances.

Yes as they are being paid and both are professionals with a lot of experience. Of course they would. Not saying this 16 year old wouldn't of course he would but quality would lack.

So for example Rooney lacked quality at 16, Harewood and King chasing down, I have heard some things in my life but jeez this one is funny, both lazy as fuck and injury prone...

Rooney is a one off and its just not the same situation. "both lazy as fuck and injury prone" both also quality strikers in their day and a stop gap till the summer than a 16 year old who has never played a minute. OK mate.

End of thread. Their day was very short and ended a long long time ago.

I agree, I understand Denzel and Urquart were signed for the development squad but if they can't get in ahead of 16/17 year olds now then it doesn't look good for their future development
