Maybe slightly optimistic! I'll go for (and I think this is optimistic) 7. Don't know where they're going to come from though. I hope people really aren't expecting Gardner to turn our season around. He looks quality, sure, but it's so much pressure to do that. Of course, I hope it happens and we build up a head of steam!

I'll have some of your optimism please skybluebelgium.
I'll go for maybe 8 points but lets hope for more and maybe for a change a better xmas period, can't be or get any worse than our xmas periods that have gone before.

Okay, more reasoned and rational. I hope.

Brighton away : win (first win of the season away. Has to happen at some point and I just think the Gardner factor and the fact Brighton have struggled a bit of late might just tip the balance in our favour)
Pompey away : lose
Hull home : win
Peterborough away : win
Bristol City home : draw
Brighton home : win
West Ham away : lose

That would give us 13 points, which would be excellent.

I think 10 points, beating Brighton and Bristol at home, getting our first away win somewhere and picking up a point from somewhere else. That would be great but realistically I think we will do well to get 7 points.

So we have been dire all season - we have put together two half decent performances against a couple of the better teams in this division and gained one massive point and now we've recruited for a few weeks a promising kid from Villa who has no league experience and suddenly our fortunes are going to be transformed? I admire the optimism and wish I could share it but afraid I cannot. Yes we played well against West Ham and not quite as well against Cardiff but its against the less "glamorous" (God how could I ever describe Cardiff as that) that we must win and so far have failed miserably. Cannot see Gardner transforming the team - hope I am wrong and sure he'll do well but we needed more than one loanee and a drastic improvement from the rest to save us. So for me its:
Brighton away : win
Pompey away : lose
Hull home : draw
Peterborough away : lose
Bristol City home : win
Brighton home : draw
West Ham away : lose
And thats being optimistic 8 points from 7 games would be a massive improvement on 13 in 18 but it will still not be enough I'm afraid to save us.

its all a bit optomistic when you consider two wins in however many, but if this boy can cut the mustard as we've been led to believe from our Villa visitors yesterday then maybe 4 wins are feasable,it should rejuvinate the rest of the squad, however we need to change at the back and let Keogh replace CYRUs for two or three games, the poor lad as committed skillful as he is needs time out or we risk ruining him, just a short break to come back reinvigorated

I am more optimistic Ashby because I think this Gardner signing will have bolstered the whole club. It's been all doom and despondency and little hope, but I think these two bits of positivity, Gardner coming in and Juke staying has probably given us a life saving injection. Of course it could all go tits up, but we will have a good run at some point and i just think all the factors are probably at this moment in time in our favour for once ... and don't forget, we were very good against West Ham last week and rather unlucky. Think the tables may have just tipped in our favour, however short-lived that may prove to be.

Personally never thought Juke was going to go - just a bullshit smokescreen story from Shitsu to deflect away from the fact that yet again they have failed to provide AT with adequate resources - I hope the kid does well and if the Villa fans are to believed (would they lie to us?!?!?!?!) he sounds like a good prospect but it does beggar the question of he is the next Maradona/Messi how come he hasn't even made their subs bench? He is here to learn and make his mistakes and no doubt like all kids he will. Hopefully he will bring some positivity to the place and is a strong enough character not to be dragged down by the air of doom and gloom around the place. I am putting 50p on it being 12 minutes into his home debut before the moaners around us in Block 20 are pontificating how he isn't good enough and needs dropping etc.

I reckon:
Brighton away : win (1-2)
Portsmouth away : draw (1-1)
Hull home : draw (1-1)
Peterborough away : draw (2-2)
Bristol City home : win (3-1)
Brighton home : win (2-1)

In other words we're going to go on a run! PUSB

Well it will happen at some point otherwise we will probably go down with the worst points tally in the history of the Championship. All teams have a bit of a good run. looking at these fixtures this seems our best opportunity.

Whether we win or not we should at least be picking up points from the likes of Bristol at home and Hull at home and Brighton too. If we were to get a win and a draw out of the next two games then that would do wonders for the confidence of the side.

Just checked and the lowest ever points total in the Championship is 29 points. That was Rotherham and they won 8 games that season. We obviously only have 2 so far. Before the Championship when it was the 1st Division it was Stockport with 26 points and 7 wins.

Well, if the story was only coming from CT then I may agree. But this was in the Southampton press too, so personally I don't think it has anything to do with SISU. On the flip-side what are you going to do if SISU do sell him?!

Bloody hell!

If you don't win tomorrow it'll be doom and gloom on here.

Gardner sounds good but some of those Villa fans were over egging it, one of them reckoned he was worth 40m now.
If he's half as good as they say he should tear this division up.

When your in a desert someone spitting on your head feels like a flood. Just having someone with two legs and a pulse would have felt like the second coming to us at the moment.

My girlfriends dad is a Villa supporter. I went round to theirs the other night and first thing I said to him was we've got someone off you today. He didn't know we had so asked who and when I told him Gardner he was genuinely cross! He thinks the lad should be in or around the first team. So I'm actually looking forward to seeing him, it seems we may have a decent player coming in. It was also nice to get my girlfriends dad cross, so I'm liking this Gardner for that already!

SkyBlueBelgium, I think you need to calm down have a cup of tea and take one game at a time!

In a week a lot can change and you need to factor in possible injurys, suspensions, and god knows what else. So its best to take it game by game.

Lets look at today first and see where we are after that, also Tuesday is important as alot of teams will play thier game in hand, we are not even playing.

But surely, putting a positive spin on it, we simply cannot lose on Tuesday.
