I like robins but have to question him sometimes .. Nazon on the bench a lot banged 2 In yesterday for Oldham in league above ... whole team awful yesterday .. Maguire drew absolutely woeful is he really any better then what we have in academy etc I wouldn’t say so. I would give Clarke Harris a start next week would also like to give JP a run out last 20 against tired defenders.

Tbh we’ve tried plenty of managers, experienced ones in Coleman, Mowbray and Reid, young ones like Pressley and hundreds of players yet we’ve never had a successful season on the pitch

I can’t believe people want this guy sacked and it isn’t even end of the season yet. Mark Robins has been great for us. I will try and convince:

1. It’s a very very close league for a start and we are still in the races for autos and definitely the playoffs. Season is by no means over.

2. Our club is in turmoil and has been for a good few years now. We just had a relegation last year and 4 managers in that season.

3. He has been given a top 10 budget and we know I would say as a fact we haven’t got the best budget in the league and we haven’t got the worst. We are about par.

4. We’ve lost our two best players with major injuries by November. Jones and andreu. Just plain bad luck.

5. Robins for my opinion has always come across genuine and gave frank assessments and when it’s not good enough he has told us. He gives the fans no bullshit.

At least give him until the end of the season and re evaluate and give him a chance to still make the playoffs and autos. Plenty of games and points left. Robins isn’t beyond scrunity but give the guy a full season at it.

No, of course not. We are stuck in a death spiral which this season we are slightly forgetting because we have been top 7 all season. I agree if we fail to go up this season then conference football isn’t a million miles off.

Every single manager has failed here with just one or two having a decent try with us such as mowbray 2 seasons ago. This is why my post above, you can’t keep getting rid of managers. Mark robins is a god send for this club in my opinion. A good honest football man who has been doing his best and has got unlucky with injuries. Season isn’t over yet. He isn’t beyond sacking no manager is but I trust robins.

Oh a side note we had 4 different managers last season and got relegated. It doesn’t work.

You say we’ve lost our best two players ? Jones I agree with , but no one has seen enough of Andreu to say he would of been any good.

There has been too much emphasis on Tony Andreu and it's become a bit of an urban legend to be honest.

People seem to be assessing his value to the team based upon a supposition.

We really have no idea how good he would have been for us this season and to what degree he would have added value and it's been more of a hope and leap of faith from us rather than it having any basis in reality.

We have bigged him up as some kind of superstar.

True but he came here on a good ticket and impressed in the few games he did play. He most likely would of been a good signing for us. It’s still very unlucky but that’s life as they say.

Looking back at some of the threads.

I think it's safe to say his job is most definitely safe no matter what the outcome of Saturday.

It would be very unlucky on anyone who gets 74 points in a season and not make the cut off or play offs.

Hopefully it's Mansfield on Saturday.

Regardless of what happens between now and the end of our season, I want him to stay. Of course, there will be a meltdown if it goes pear shaped on Saturday, but again there will be one (albeit milder), if we don't go up. I am looking forward to next season, regardless, whichever division we are in - overall, I have enjoyed this season (immeasurably better than last - excluding our big day out at Wembley!)

Totally agree. This no matter what happens has been one of the better seasons as a whole very enjoyable indeed.
Grass roots at it's best.
Competitive in 99% of games.

We tend to forget we had a very good Cup run too.

I'd echo this. If we'd have missed out on the playoffs by a wide margin I'd struggle to justify him staying, but whatever happens now I want him in. When you can pinpoint the games where we've lost the plot that would otherwise have seen us in the automatics, it suggests it's well within reach next season if we're still down here.

(I don't think anything could win me over if we then failed to go up next season though)

I have enjoyed this season on the whole (choose not to go for the first third) and we've had some great high points (including the cup run) amongst some lows (FGR etc). One thing to remember though is that we have lost a third of our games, luckily for us we haven't drew many.

It’s the way Robins plays and mathematically it makes sense.

Let’s say you were going to play 30 games and win 10, draw 10 and lose 10, just numbers from my ass, that’s 40 points.

If you win 15 and lose 15 that’s 45 points.

Dowie was the same, I like it in a manager personally.

Wouldn't it make better sense to judge him at the end of next season. He's turned the club around and hopefully be able to build on that success.
Personally I think we need to stick with him.

don't agree with that. its just that those are the moments we remember.

Barnet at home, chesterfield at home, crewe at home etc. All wins and unmemorable, but certainly not abysmal

I suppose you’re right. The likes of the Forest Green game or the Cheltenham game spring to mind but as you mention there have been some pretty average performances. This season has gone by really fast though, and for the most part has been pretty enjoyable. Let’s hope we can round off what had been a good season so far with promotion.

Someone posted today (or may have been last night) saying that if we draw on Saturday we don't deserve to go up, even though a draw gets us into the play-offs.

I said Robins had to get us into the play-offs as a minimum. Draw on Saturday and he will have achieved that and it would be job done.

Do feel we were more than capable of top 3 though.

Barely anybody wanted him gone, the poll on here was something like 6 voting that way. some of us had concerns about him being too cautious but he's definitely shown he's capable of making us more attacking. Done more than enough to have another season, even if we blow it on Saturday or completely fall apart in the playoffs.

After the 3 straight losses i was saying he should go. I was completely wrong. Even if we don't make the playoffs, or lose in them. He should be given another season. Losing Jones and losing Andreu were massive blows and we've done well to cope without two big attacking threats.
Fingers crossed that we'll all be celebrating at Wembley in a few weeks.

Let's face it most Coventry fans base their whole seasons expectation on supposition. Glorifying new signings before they have played. Lambasting players for the slightest mistake. Casting off McNulty after 8 games when he has weighed in with 22 goals. I am bored with the petty post match dramas on here, which only highlights the lack of knowledge our fans have (loyal as they might be). I thought we could have done better but; are where I thought we would be. But also weren't Exeter, Notts County and Lincoln expected to do better?

Let's not forget to say well done Accrington!!

Mansfield probably underachieved the most, as they were hot favourites pre season.

I suppose I'm one of those people. But if you look at his stats all his career, he's a goalscoring midfielder, he scored a respectable 2 in 11 in the Championship 2 seasons ago, and last season in the Scottish Championship, scored 19 goals in 42. You look at his goal v Shrewsbury, the quality is there to be seen. But, I do admit it is jumping to a conclusion, which is why I've threw in the caveat that I believe he'd have been a key player for us. Judging from MR's comments, and his past experiences with McNulty, and his stats in general, there was cause for optimism surrounding him.

Either way, I'm looking at this team atm, and I think Jodi Jones alone takes it up another gear. Something I remember seeing the goals nominated for goal of the season, he had such good ball control and match winning ability. One thing that is clear for all to see, is that we don't really have anyone who has amazing ball control, you could make a case for Bayliss, but on the wings, no one has that ability. I think Jones is the difference between us challenging for autos as opposed to playoffs.
