Looking forward to seeing this, starts next Tuesday on BBC1. Based on the John Christie murders with Tim Roth in the lead role. Not sure how close it is to the Dickie Attenborough film but should be good.

Is this the Scottish one with him from line of duty?
Don't think so Nick. John Christie was an English serial killer during the 40s and 50s, he killed at least 8 women including his wife.

Superb drama but yes Roth is creepy; excellent but unnerving. Great acting and direction; underplayed and compelling.

Roth definitely makes things he is in worth watching, the quietly menacing nature of Christie, right down to that walk, is portrayed with great skill. The post war 1940s squalor just adds to the grim subject matter.

I really like the film so I'm not sure how this will measure up. Sir Dicky is excellent in the film, very creepy.

He is. Roth is much more constrained. Hard to work out what is going on in his mind, though I am sure that is deliberate.

Thus far I prefer Attenborough's portrayal. Think he emanates the false warmth with more skill.
