Normally at this stage the local media gave managed to find out that we are still hopeful of landing 2-3 players.

For some reason over the last week The CET and BBC CWR have fixated over the incoming winger but without clarifying whether that’s the only deal he hoped to do ( incoming )

So any whispers as to whether we might have more than just that ??

Apparently we have looked at bringing McNulty back.
Hibs hope to buy Reading’s Marc McNulty and sign Celtic’s Scott Allan before window closes

We have already signed Bright and Chaplin (as well as Drysdale for the Dev Squad) and then it's just the winger he was on about.

Not sure what people are expecting or where 2 or 3 more came from?

Nick we all know Chaplin doesn’t count as a new addition this January.

Most lower league clubs seek to add 2 to 3 players in this window. Historically we have too on many occasions.

Why doesn't Chaplin count?

Luke Thomas was extended, Bright and Drysdale? So that's 3 even without Chaplin (for whatever reason that is)... if we get one more (as Robins has said) that's 4 new players? We haven't seen many leave? And we already had a big squad. Ni point in adding more players for the sake of it.

I say it every time, people are too obsessed with deadline day. People usually forget about signings at the start of the window and moan nobody has signed if it isn't on Sky Sports. We handed over money to make the Chaplin move permanent in this window.

I am more interested to see more going out.

Because it's not a new addition is it? Same as Thomas.

It has been made from a loan to a permanent, so it is as we will have had to pay so financially he will be.

We panic because we are still in need of players! It might be different if we we're cruising in the league and our only worry was about losing players! Just another thing for you to moan about though

The Championship winger loan is expected to be confirmed tomorrow.

The window closes tomorrow at 11pm.

In reality it's not as simple as that though is it? If we sign duds like Brown and Ogogo it isn't a case of just bombing them off and going and getting a couple more.

Same as the amount Robins spent on strikers, but only plays 1. It's not a case of just going to get a couple more sadly.

I'm more worried about who we lose in January rather than who we sign. So far so good this year.

That's why I pointed out financially he is an addition which won't be thought about.

Outgoings we have only had Andreu so far. (Finn, if he counts)

I guess the common theme so far this season is we can’t score and people are hoping that it would addressed this window, which is a fair assumption

Just checked, we have the joint biggest squad in League 1 with 32 alongside Sunderland / Doncaster.

That's the thing, Robins spent shit loads on strikers over the Summer. Where are we going to pull money from to go and buy another one? The same as we are crying out for a midfielder sometimes and Ogogo who is probably one of our biggest earners and got a 6 figure fee is not even playing for the U23s.

I'd love to go out and get loads of new players but we need to get rid of the shite ones first.

Probably a few of them. It's the same for all clubs.

Fleetwood have 21 and Wycombe have 23. Assume they dont have reserves / u23 teams?

I forgot how many strikers we have, 8 if you include Bright (he's listed as one but I'd probably say 7).

Luton have 4
Charlton are down to 2 but I guess it will go up to 3 again
Barnsley have 5
Portsmouth are up to 4 with Bogle
Sunderland have 1 striker (I assume will get more after theirs went)
Fleetwood have 3

The issue is probably more that we have strikers playing in positions that aren't up front to try and cram into a certain system.

As nick says we still have to pay?

Thomas wasn’t set to be here after January so again why doesn’t it count?

Because it’s not an addition to the playing squad is it when they were already in the squad before the window....

We are still up on numbers aren't we as it stands?

I think people have unrealistic expectations unless we can offload a few quickly

Yeah of course and we have spent money like you say. But to say Chaplin and Thomas count as 2 new signings, while financially correct, in terms of players they don’t count as additional signings

Thomas is because he’d have left; Chaplin may not count because it was already agreed

Thomas kind of is, if we didn't get him we would have had to replace which would then be a different one.

You need to look at it in the financial aspect to be more realistic rather then the "More strikers" type thing.

Also drysdale should be pushing for first team by the end of this season so don’t discount that signing

Nick has tried very hard to justify a very weak argument. Neither Thomas nor Chaplin are new additions from either a playing or weekly playing budget perspective.

We also only have a large squad because we have an under 23 side and most are given squad numbers at some point.

Yes we clearly need to offload some too but so do most teams ....

I haven't tried hard to justify anything have I? I have pointed out activity so far in the window.

Chaplin is a new addition in terms of budget. The u23 players are paid too.

I'm not the one expecting a few signings on deadline day either? Nobody has said there would be a few did they?

People make up numbers then are disappointed when it doesn't happen. It's always a bit strange like that.

Same with season ticket prices, people all say about an offer that nobody has ever mentioned then annoyed when there isn't.

Hibs manager Neil Lennon has just left, so hopefully they are no longer in for McNulty, and we step in.

Not a big lover of the January window to be honest, if we get through tomorrow without losing a major player I can live with that, consolidate the squad, get some of the youngsters bloodied and ready for next year.

Agree keep key players and maybe get a loanee winger and it gives us something to work on. A 20 goal a season striker isn’t going to be available to loan and we clearly are not in a position to buy
