the ref needs to spend less time in the gym and more time doing some critical analysis of his performances

22 passes (only Godden made less. This staggeringly low for a central midfielder)

We didn't play through the midfield though did we? Hamer and the back 3 launched it and the front 3 fed off the scraps. Looking at the stats we attempted 58 long passes that must be a record by some distance.

He was very poor first half. He was better second. Robins will likely start him again Tuesday night. Perhaps you should phone him and tell him he's shit and to stop picking him.

That melee was coming and completely on the ref for not controlling the game.

Hamer made 51 passes and Palmer 38.

22 is absolutely abysmal for a central midfielder. You could probably let him off if he was breaking up play instead. But he made 0 tackles.

Did the moment O'Hare got injured.

Our season finished 2 minutes into the game at Sheffield.

Didn’t watch the game - can’t out here in Azerbaijan. But judging by the comments on this thread, MR needs to change his recruiting policy. Rather than signing football players, he needs to sign people who can turn every foul into a tackle. If that’s the way referees want it, we should join in.

Phone Robins and tell him, he's the one that picks him week in week out.

Well he pulled him off and not Palmer so I think he probably knows

You can say what you like about his performances so far this season, I'm not arguing with that, but he was totally non existent today.

Even Robins is saying that Wilson-Esbrand probably a booking. That he's took a shot where he is never going to get the the ball first. No complaints from him on that

Sheaf in a boot apparently after his injury, doesn't sound good. Eccles to come into midfield?

To be honest, I’ll be thankful if we’re not dragged downward, and just totter around mid table. It’s entirely possible, nevertheless; Wigan/Cardiff are a mere 10 points away from us, and we’re not exactly tearing up any trees at the minute.

I just keep looking down that table and hoping we don’t get pulled in, because unless we have another purple patch or a consistent run of form, it’s a distinct reality.

Personally, and I think this may be unpopular, I believe this transfer window could prove disastrous, as we don’t have the grit or the confidence (or the quality of numbers) to drag ourselves out of a potentially tight relegation battle, IF we get caught in it.
Patching up the cracks is a wholly negative and short sighted strategy, and to be honest, there’s nothing but excuses about transfer targets not materialising. The squad is tired, frail and lacking in quality.
Small budget or not, decent players can be acquired in the winter transfer window, not just naive youngsters who are out of their depth in our formation and bench warmers from other Championship teams (McNally excluded).

But then again, we could be just fine.

Probably a mercy for Sheaf, he’s been poor most of this season and gives him time to reset.

I think he deserves another go there, he was really good in midfield earlier in the season.

100% was a second yellow offence. Doesn't excuse all the other shite that went on today, but that decision was correct.

But the first shouldn’t have been a yellow and most (good) refs allow a bit of leeway before giving a 2nd yellow. He let plenty of fouls worthy of a yellow go unpunished today.

Think he was missed today though. Hamer was very good, but we look very light in the centre now

The first was a booking, it was right in front of me, he was late and took him out on his ankle studs up.

I agree on your second point for both teams. Hamer made 3 bad challenges and didn't get booked, their players constantly fouled and didn't get booked.

Gyokeres was given nothing, but neither was their number 9. The ref was shite

McNally has looked excellent so far not sure why you are picking him out? When Burnley go up I would 100% hope we offer them the £2m they paid for him

Ha. A mere 10 points behind?

You know if that was us as Wigan/Cardiff, we would all be saying we are a huge 10 points behind. A massive gap.

Performance wasn't that bad, can't fault any of the players, just naivety from JWE. Ref on the other hand I hope he has a shit weekend and that when he goes to the gym next he drops a dumbell on his toe.

Enjoyable second half. We played pretty well overall against a physical team. Their goal came from a throw in that need not have been conceded; he could have let it run out of play imo. Ref was poor.
