Michael Dawson is the instudio reporter for Sky Sports on our game. He saw the replay and said that Eccles had chested the ball down but as it travelled, it hit the Birmingham players hand. Dawson said it was a correct handball call but said he was surprised the ref saw it as the offence happened on the side of the player away from the ref.
Yep it was a hand ball, well away from his body and impacted the game as made Eccles lose control in the penalty area. Just normally not spotted!Hand and arm of the Birmingham player is outside the normal silhouette of a person so handball is correct. The fact the hand is open and facing the ball could also show intent.
