    Match Thread Birmingham match thread

My my things are far worse than even I thought down there. I know they've had a bit of a game what with the Boro match being brought forwards 3 days then the 2 Cov games and a busy February schedule coming up but we're supposed to be a professional outfit. Stinks of the club cutting corners and...

Were they letting people outside for a smoko? They normally do at the back of the Tilton/Kop corner and I think they usually do outside those 2 service areas behind the Kop which it sounds like got packed. I'm wondering if WMP were making things ten times worse than normal?

It is a modern ground (apart from the 1954 relic main stand). The site of the ground is the main issue. It's ace in many ways, a throwback surrounded by inner city urban grime. I'd not want it gone. Also when they first built the Kop and Tilton in season 1994-95, unlike other clubs whose ground...

I don't remember Cov having the top tier in 2011. On the highlights of the game straight after Kevin Phillips winning goal the camera pans across to that end and the Gil Merrick Upper looks empty. Maybe you were up there. Did you have to queue next to Blues fans going into the Main Stand then...

Yeah would make more sense for Cov to have the whole lower tier (over 5'500) like you had in 2011 and West Brom had in 2015 except now there are all of those seats covered up at the back of the lower tier to allow the executive boxes a better view and less aggravation from rival fans tapping on...

8000 6000 ish downstairs 1700 ish upstairs 300 in the executive boxes Now, the back three rows of seats are covered up because apparently to sell them would impair the view of folks in the executive boxes. That's upwards of 500/600 seats. About 300 seats in block 1 are covered up the one's...

£20 is a silly price for a midweek replay against a league one team (I'd like to see what other Championship clubs would charge) but there's bound to be 5'000/6'000 Blues fans who couldn't get into the original tie who'll be happy enough to pay this. I'll probably go sit in the comfy seats up...

Don't think they're particularly dangerous. Maybe blues fans are just more used to the layout/facilities and therefore stagger trips to the loo and so forth. I sit the other side anyway but at away games up and down the country the loos are always heaving at half time so I generally go 5 mins...

That was down to poor planning and organisation rather than the ground itself. The ground will perfectly accommodate 29'000 if Blues ever reach the play offs or a League Cup semi final again. Questions do need asking of Blues and CCFC over how spectacularly they eff'd this up between them. 8'000...

    Police

Yes absolutely. And I'd take issue with any suggestions St Andrews is unsafe for 29'000 or can't accomodate that many in future as a couple of folks have suggested. Lack of familiarity with the layout and a balls up by the people in charge were what led to any excessive queueing - not the...

    Police

None of the violent incidents were caused by banter in the ground. Was all good natured. The violent incidents were obviously committed by people not at the game. Think most folks in the Blues end were season ticket holders. I saw no bother at all Saturday, Head of Steam had plenty of Cov fans...

    Where are you drinking Saturday?

Spotted Dog should be alright this weekend. It's next week when the 6 Nations rugby starts it'll probably get too busy as it's a rugby pub especially if Ireland are playing. Loads of pubs around Digbeth, makes the levels of segregation inside the ground even more ludicrous.

"Tilton Road Stand turnstiles for this area being next to the Main Stand areas, which are being used by Birmingham City fans" This is complete nonsense though. The Tilton Rd turnstiles are on a completely different road and completely fenced off with a car park and a pub (the George) in between...

Give the new place Norton's Irish Bar a go - right by Hennesseys

Nobody is having a go at CCFC but surely both clubs should have arranged for more tickets. None of the explanations for such a reduced capacity so far I've heard make any sense apart from the thing about Coventry parking their coaches in the away car park making those turnstiles harder to access...

I hope so. At least give Cov 2 more blocks in Tilton and give Blues another block in Gil Merrick

If it is to do with the coaches and there aren't that many of them, why don't they just park them up on Tilton Rd and Cattell Rd like they do normally, which would free up some more turnstiles?

If they release no further tickets it will be a 19'000 sell out

    It's not a police decision. It's to do with the coaches. Worth watching this from this evening about 10 mins onwards. WMP would have little objection to more tickets being made available;
