    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

The average age of arrivals this summer in the Championship was about 25. So for the most part a lot those types of fees would likely have been paid on players that age or younger which means Championship clubs on the whole prefer to pay decent fees for both potential and resale value. Then...

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

KKH was likely intended to be a first choice RB with MVE seemingly close to moving on. Woolfenden was a panic signing as we put all our eggs in one basket with Hughes but we desperately needed depth. Markelo i strongly suspect the upfront fee is nowhere near the reported total package.

And? Leicester paid £23m for Daka does that translate to what clubs would pay for him - no. In reality Wolfenden had one good season in the Championship for Ipswich and then played a bit part role in the PL. This season he's been on the whole pretty poor. So it's difficult to assess his actual...

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

To a club that vastly overpaid for every player they purchased and have to in order to attract what is relatively average talent in the grand scheme of things.

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

And I'd say that's probably what we'd get back, give or take. We wouldn't make a profit on Kitching or Wolfenden. The market for CBs isn't particularly high and neither are really that young or good enough to play in the PL. Wolfenden has been a pretty bad buy in the grand scheme of things and...

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

No one is paying a minimum of £5m for either Wolfenden or Kitching. That's frankly an absurd take.

We wouldn't generate anywhere near that for those four. Any sales we make will be effectively cancelled out anyway with the likely promotion clauses owed on the likes of Wright, MVE, EMC and Simms etc.

Let's be honest, it'll be kicking the can down the road. If Leicester don't go down this year I wouldn't be shocked if they go down next season. You have an owner who's refusing to put anymore money in while being completely unwilling to let go of the club - an all too familiar story and a...

    Rushworth

Well it wasn't was it. They aren't ever likely to make a profit on him, especially when he's not even No.1. His £27m rising to £31m fee will probably put him in the top 10 most expensive keepers ever.

I think this is only half the story really. There were contract negotiations between PSG and Donnarumma but the PSG sporting director admitted he wanted a huge increase which they just weren't willing to agree to as their policy on wages was changing.

Trafford has openly stated in an interview that he expected to be City's No.1 and didn't realise they were going to move for Donnarumma? Which suggests to me City verbally told him he was going to be their first choice for this season but then changed their mind.

Match Thread Swansea City- Coventry City 21st March 17.15ko

A lot of those teams were either horrendously out of form at the time Swansea played them or are just plain crap. Fair play they managed to get the 3 points 8/10 games but on the whole they've had a pretty favourable run of home fixtures with exception to Wrexham.

Statement signings if we go up?

I like the Barkley suggestion but the only issue for me would be his injury history. He's pretty susceptible to breaking down. Looking at the last two seasons alone he's been out for a fair number of games.

I haven't at all. With all due respect you've moved the goalposts several times in this discussion to the point where you're actually making things up in an attempt to prove what is becoming an entirely subjective and hypothetical non-point. Both Reynolds and McElhenney are putting plans in...

    Championship thread 25/26!

You can’t seriously compare Wrexham’s rise through the NL and EFL to a club like Bournemouth, which achieved relative success solely by having a single wealthy benefactor pouring money in season after season without a real care of having to plugging significant losses. Before Maxim bought the...

You joke but there are thousands of fans in the US that have an annual subscription to watch Wrexham games live. They'll lap that kind of content up.

    Championship thread 25/26!

The new age of football fan wants to be closer to the players, ownership, and have more behind access to the club they support. Generating engagement through direct to consumer methods is now key to getting more numbers on socials, clicks, shares etc. So people might think it's cringe, and it...

    Championship thread 25/26!

Quite possibly. But no club is able to succeed on its own so your point is largely redundant. The owner is pretty much always the catalyst behind whatever success is achieved. Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford wouldn't be anywhere near the PL if it wasn't for wealthy benefactors pumping money...

Because it's organic growth. Reynolds and McElhenney have leveraged their own personal brands and connections to develop Wrexham into a very advertisable entity. Over half (52.1%) of its £26.7m revenue (year ending June 2024) originates from outside Europe, with most of that coming from North...
