How bad is it though that the people we elect to supposedly run the city in our interest, care so little about a civic asset (and one of the oldest organisations in the city) that it makes a man who was once described as Britain's worst employer look favourable to our club?

The club realised in the late 90s as to where football was going. Had we not gone down in 2001, HR would've been very restrictive by about 2004. It was right to look at a new ground, its just how it was managed that was the problem

Our lowest crowd this season was 24.5k (against Blackburn) with only about 1k away fans. A PL fixture would've seen 3k away fans so that would instantly have lifted it to a 26.5k crowd. That's only 5k off capacity. Not unrealistic at all to expect crowds to rise by 5k

Do you think performances and effort levels have been acceptable prior to yesterday?

If a team is capable of playing well and they aren’t playing well, then I don’t think it’s unreasonable to point this out

So they suddenly gained all that ability just yesterday?

The fact we played so well yesterday supports what people have been saying. The players are capable, and haven’t been trying

But that is why it’s important to not write this season off yet. We have to finish as high as possible and not carry the negativity into the summer

The problem is next season many fans won’t respond to the hype that the club will inevitably push and we won’t sell 22k season tickets

I can’t speak for the 80s, but I remember the 90s and it was no different to now. When the team tried they were supported and praised. When they couldn’t be arsed they were booed and criticised

If the project was my responsibility it would be down to me to make it very clear that the staff were not up to it
