A draw v PNE and Southampton in isolation are by no means ‘poor results’. If we revisit the match threads, I’m sure the prevailing narrative was ‘take a draw’. I was angry that we went 1-0 v 10 men and ended up drawing but performance wise, we win that game most times. Likewise with...

Losing top spot must’ve been a real kick up the backside for the squad. The opportunity to immediately take back top spot v Boro was the perfect motivation imo. Also, adding a player like Onyeka to squad is a big boost. He is a Prem player and has immediately made an impact.

Exactly! I do wonder if the club will adjust the points tally from 10 to 20 if the game is rescheduled.

My personal view was that our slump was overplayed away from home. What actually worried me was the 2 losses from winning positions v Norwich and QPR in the same week followed by drawing to Oxford at home. That was the real slump. Our December away fixtures couldn’t get much harder from Stoke...

We have challenging games at home but under Lampard our record has been flawless. In the league, we’ve lost 3 games at home? Burnley, Leeds and Ipswich, 5 in all competitions. Despite Derby, Wrexham, Southampton, PNE being tough matches we’ve got to main that fortress status and get 4-5 wins...

To be perfectly honest, both of our clubs are performing at a much higher level than we’d have expected in pre-season. All the underlying data this season has Cov and Ipswich as the top 2 teams in the division. If Boro do in fact finish in the playoffs, I’d back you to win it because you’re...

    Championship thread 25/26!

I read an article earlier today that basically said we had the ‘hardest’ remaining fixtures out of Boro, Ipswich and ourselves. What the article didn’t look into was the breakdown of opponents by home/away record. Boro’s advantage over us and Ipswich is their away form. They have by far the...

Ipswich are home too and my money is on them. Boro’s home form isn’t as strong as Ipswich or ours and have a tough away schedule remaining. I’m confident that if we get 6 points this week, it more or less seals it. Birmingham have lost 1 game at home all season and if Boro drop point next...

Boro did a job on Sheff U and we’ve got to follow suit. A win tomorrow puts us 2 games ahead of Boro and 4 ahead Ipswich of Ipswich and with only 36 points available (42 for Ipswich), you just can’t see us finishing 3rd.

That’s the most important result I’m tracking. Even if Ipswich win their games in hand, we remain ahead of them. Boro dropping 4 points at home against 2 relegation zone teams is pretty disastrous at this stage of the season. Ipswich are chasing them down aggressively and I don’t think they’ll...

They’re just not that consistent. They went 4 without a win around Xmas too and probably should’ve overtook us before they actually did. That was their big chance. Compare that to us, our home form has been near perfect and it was just our away form holding us back.

So far so good for us! A win tomorrow would be huge and put us back in control.

They need to sack Ramsey if he hasn’t already. They’ve not won in 2026 yet! 😂

Technically, we could’ve dropped out but that was dependent on multiple outcomes. The only team that could’ve overtook us didn’t win which was the main thing. In any case, the likelihood we’d lose v Morecambe at home was ridiculously low because both teams needed a draw. Therefore, to get...

    Championship thread 25/26!

We won 22, what of it? The reality is that we achieved a playoffs quite comfortably. Both times we’ve been in the Championship playoffs it was more of a close run thing going into the final day. Compare that to last season, the final day was a winner takes all match v Boro. Morecambe that...

    Championship thread 25/26!

We didn’t sneak into the playoffs on the final day, we finished 3 points ahead of 8th. A draw against Morecambe was enough for both teams to secure playoffs/survival. In principle, would have been no different to us hypothetically drawing to Boro on the final day last season.

Do the numbers flatter one of our strikers?

My gut feeling is that Haji would take the Prem quite well. We will play a different style altogether and won’t be coming against low blocks as we do in the Championship. I’m assuming here, but what we seen v Boro is a roadmap of how we’d try to play in the Prem. To do that, you need a bit more...

They’ve lost once at home all season so I’m confident they won’t lose v Boro. We’ve just got to do our jobs v Sheff U and Stoke.

Another team where their away form that’s held them back. Their recent uplift away from home was against teams in the bottom half around the relegation zone. Remaining away games: Millwall, Charlton, Derby, Ipswich, Hull and Pompey. It’s a tough blend and I’d back them to lose 3-4 of those...
