That’s a fair point about Hodgson. Howe has already been offered higher profile jobs than the ones he’s had previously, and as I said, I imagine he’ll be highly tipped for the England job when it next comes up. I don’t think any one failure is the kiss of death for these guys.

He got West Brom, England and Palace! And he did pretty well at all of them, of course - I like Hodgson. I was just pointing out there isn’t some “one strike and you’re out” policy against English managers.

In principle, sure, the lateral flow tests prevent anyone with COVID from attending. What happens in practice? Cases have almost trebled since the Liverpool warehouse rave on April 30 - you'd have to put a lot more faith in the lateral flow tests to assume that no-one inside would have COVID now.
