If you want an example of consequences in not performing at the required level then search Stuart Atwells ghost goal in the Championship-think it was Bristol City. This held him back for years before he then was able to get back on the ladder and start climbing his way up again.

I think you’ll find there is. They would be off the games/games the week after as they are continually scrutinised by the hierarchy that would be in the stands. If it was persistent and they hadn’t reached the required standard they would go down a level-so if a Championship referee they would...

She was well within her rights to send the coach/manager off (or probably caution them) if she wanted to go by the book. She has handled this the best way though and took stock of the situation by using her man-management and people skills which is sometimes a good approach and a warning that...

Not eye candy like some of the others, but Clare Balding also knows her stuff.

Very true. Best to stick to the decent league’s where people are more serious about football (if you get to the level required as a Ref) rather than the Sunday cloggers. Having said that, the above clip is from one league below the conference, a very good semi-professional standard.

Yep-keep getting emails from the Coventry RA to ask if we will do a few matches for their leagues. Could do a match 7 days a week at the minute with the amount of leagues struggling for Refs.

Yeah he got home sick and fell out with Phil Neal. Used to lodge up by the forum in Cov a couple of doors up from my Mum. Played snooker regularly with him and David Carmichael who was at Cov also at the time but he hated me beating him all the time. 😁

Indeed. Certainly not an apology. I have no problem trying to explain a decision to anybody who questions it-the trouble is that the person/persons asking will never accept the reasoning, especially if it’s against their team. No point in even asking the question then half the time….

A great incentive for them then-Shrewsbury at Knights Lane if they manage to win the reply. 👍

    Any refs on here?

Yep-we are not experts by an stretch of the imagination. There are times when we have to look at the Laws to check the odd thing, but of course we are always right when we check! 😜

Yep-the classic “dangerous play” and an indirect free kick being awarded is the bicycle kick. Another less common example of dangerous play where an indirect free kick would be given is when a player sits on the ball or the ball becomes trapped under the player. This is when the boots would...

If anyone wants to watch a bit of local football on Tuesday evening-get yourself down to Knights lane. The first time that Stratford Town have the chance to get into the first round proper of the FA cup. A chance to get the likes of Sunderland or Sheff We’d if they win the reply! 😁

Unfortunately this is all too common an occurrence nowadays. We recently had a game where an abandonment was the only option after a major brawl where the police were on the scene within 4 minutes. It carried on after the game aswell in the car park. Obviously can’t go into details as it’s an...

You are right in one count “obstruction” is now “impeding an opponent” But you have been listening to the pundits again I’m afraid regarding “yellow card for dangerous play” Dangerous play is a red card or “endangering the safety of an opponent” to be more precise. The pundits also love “it’s...
