Aren’t they owned by a billionaire? Turning down the equivalent of 200 STs worth of revenue for this game because you’re worried we might lose and opposition fans might have fun is the kind of expensive taste usually only afforded to the mega-rich.

Absolutely not. Slows down the game, encourages more tactical/cynical stoppages, gives a new advantage to bigger/wealthier teams, and exposes the ref to yet another genre of partisan criticism (“They deliberately took more than/less than 30 seconds” etc etc)

Not quite - he signed a contract extension until the end of 24/25. Still looks like quite an odd decision now he’s apparently out the door.
