    England v Uruguay

We fail at every tournament. Doesn't matter what formation we play. :pointlaugh:

I too was thinking it might well be worth having a gamble on Shaw. He's bigger and stronger than Baines I feel.

I only watch the Beeb and Hodgson said on the Beeb he should be fit.

What Rooney brings you is a degree of intelligence (well on the pitch at least.) He is great at finding and creating space and at switching play too. An on form Rooney is an advantage to this England side. Trouble is, at the moment he is out of form. Not convinced with any degree of certainty...

    England v Uruguay

Draw will be fine, but I think we will win. I'd be inclined to play Rooney, but in something more like his normal position. If we can't accommodate him there I would drop him. I'd also go for a a very attacking line up and would field both Sterling and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the side. Scare...

Hockey World Cup - Extra player on the pitch

Exactly. They broke the rules and had an unfair advantage. How is suspending the captain for the next game, which is obviously after the competition has ended, any sort of just punishment?

This could be best ever World Cup

I think so too. A draw and a win and I think we'll be through. This is England all over and England fans all over. Very dismissive, very cautious, very un-optimisitc. I don't think we will win the competition, but see no reason why we can't reach the quarter-finals or at a push even the...

That's what Hodgson has said. I really like Wilshere. I think he's a really good player. Just his fitness that is the issue I feel. For me Ox and Sterling down the flanks would scare any opposition to death.

Ox is fit for Thursday isn't he? That's the last news I heard. Back in training, fit for Thursday.

Don't quite get this fear of Uruguay. Costa Rica certainly weren't scared of them and just like any other team they have frailties. In the last couple of years or so we have beaten Spain and drawn with Brazil and at the end of the day it is just a game of 11 v 11 and so surely we are surely...

Not sure it would have helped much Wingy. What were you proposing we would have done back then, kept whacking the Republican Guard over the heads with magazines?

I'm confident we can take at least a point. Really want Hodgson to set out the stall to attack. No sitting back, playing deep, showing caution etc. Really want us to go for it. If we go out all guns blazing and lose, so be it, but at least we will have given it a bit of a go. Suarez may well...

Pretty hard thing to do with his girth.

Why? What have they done now? I haven't read anything about them since they beat England.

We might as well play 3 at the back, cos 4 certainly isn't working.

What we need is an alien invasion. Then the world will unite as one!! Though in saying that, we will probably be obliterated by double pump action ray guns in about 2 days flat, so won't be united for very long. We can then go back to fighting again in heaven ... or hell ... or in limbo...

Nothing to stop Hodgson playing both Rooney AND Sturridge though, Pax. It is not written in stone that we have to only play one up front. He can play Sturridge with Rooney just behind him in a free role. Been quite a few calls for that from pundits. I agree with Nick, play him in his...
