    USSR invades Ukraine.

They haven’t got the stuff to do it, they can’t even hold what they’ve got. There’s no way they can attack Kyiv. Only out I see is reinforce a shorter front line around the 2014 border and hope to throw enough meat into the grinder to stall Ukraine long enough to get a peace settlement. There’s...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

few thousand Russian troops either there or on their way I think. Everything I’ve read says the problem is infantry vs combined arms only ends one way and Russia haven’t got enough equipment to form decent offensive battalions.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Russians have ran it seems to avoid another encirclement, but Ukrainians haven’t yet found where the new line is so are taking huge swathes unopposed. If they can secure the crossing at Nova Khakovka everything that side of the river is basically fucked, and it brings lots of juicy targets north...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I didn’t want Johnson gone, he was excellent for Labour. I just want an election when a PM no longer commands a majority in the commons.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

No. If you recall I said Brown should have called an election earlier. Are you now agreeing with that point? Was the cost of living payments or the COVID funds in their respective manifestos, or do major external events come outside manifesto promises?

It didn’t exist under Blair, was introduced in Browns last budget as PM just before the election and was reduced three years later by Clegg and Cameron from 50% to 45%.

    Things that annoy you

People, especially line managers, who set up a meeting with “catch-up” or “quick chat” as the topic, leaving me to think I’m going to get sacked and then leaving me unprepared for whatever it is they actually want. Do they think people like the mystery or something?

Simon Weaver at Harrogate for 13.5 years, that’s amazing. Just Pep and Klopp above Robins in the top two divisions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_Premier_League_and_English_Football_League_managers

Or you go entirely the other way and insist the public gets a vote in party leaders if they’re in government. We could have had PM Rory Stewart.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Really, though I don’t like it, there’s a case to be made for PR type system just because that’s how most people vote anyway. As I said it’s only needed because conventions on things like finance and cabinet responsibility have been eroded first by Johnson and now Truss. If PMs and Ministers...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Ah yes, basic constitutional reform the likes of which has happened several times in the last decade alone, unlike a new PM dying in a car crash which happens all the time. What with all that speeding about not at all escorted by police Prime Ministers do 😂 😂 😂

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

How many PMs have died on the job in the last century exactly? You are getting desperate. There aren’t any confidence votes anyway, that’s the problem. We’ve got a PM who doesn’t command the confidence of the house but is using loopholes and bravado to avoid the constitutional conventions...
