The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Well.... should the U.K. go down the tubes as a result of their votes, it would be a good excuse to point to the EU and say look at them. It's worse there, thank god we're out of that. Forgetting that if the EU collapses as a result of the Brexit vote, they will also be at fault for that.

You also claimed that the right was growing rapidly in Germany and that Merkel was extremely unpopular. AfD got 6% in the latest state election and is at 9% in the polls. Merkel's party is 17 points in front of their nearest challengers. So I think it may be that you base your judgements on the...

Turkey was doing well politically and economically before Erdogan said that he thought Hitler's form of government was good and went about setting himself up to be a virtual dictator. I don't think Turkey has a chance of being admitted to the EU in the foreseeable future. So, your theory is...

I think Germany has more problems with Turkey's democratic standards. They have a German/ Turkish journalist from "Die Welt" in jail. They wouldn't let German politicians visit German troops stationed in Turkey. Erdogan wants to conduct political campaigns in Germany at mass Trump style rallies...

If I were a billionaire I would have a compliance department which would ensure that everything is correct. I would also have a tax lawyer to ensure that my taxable profit was somewhere where they cannot get at it. That is exactly what our taxman star in Kiel says to his bosses. Don't waste your...

Taxman is a c unit ( Schäuble ). They want 6% interest on a tax assessment going back 2010-2012. I have refused to pay as it is totally out of line with the EZB low interest policy. This will go to court. Will see if I win.

Blame the Euro. We are not in it. The interest rate is virtually null. My mortgage is now 1,18%.

Whatever you may claim, the previous centuries of nation states was far worse. The EU is still very young and is still absorbing the former eastern countries. There has been tremendous progress up until now and it will evolve even more as time goes by. It is certainly not becoming worse.

The fact that we are wealthy country being in the EU - for all our problems - shows that EU membership has benefited us. Problems with the NHS and lack of affordable housing are not all the result of the EU, but the EU is a very convenient scapegoat as it lets our governments of the hook completely.

We still wouldn't take many refugees. We would just find another reason not to take many.

Yes, but it will still take 2 or 3 years to finalise. Trump will not be giving us a great deal ( he has already said that EUs deal is unfavourable to the USA ), so we will be offered a worse one and we will not be accepting his first offers.

I expect we won't be leaving for at least 5 years. We will be given a chance to negotiate our own deals with other countries before we finally leave. After all that there is no guarantee that we will be any better off. We may well be worse off. So no Armageddon, but a huge waste of time for an...

Wait a minute.--- I thought we were being ruled by mad Merkel from Berlin? Now it is unelected burocrats. Which is it? How come we still have the pound and get involved in wars? That is not possible if we are being ruled by unelected burocrats. Maybe you are reading the wrong papers. You can...

Actually it is indeed not all bad news. Spain for example, is coming back. The Eurozone is recovering. People are looking to reform the EU. The 27 are pulling together more because of Brexit. How are things going in the British government? How's inflation doing in the U.K.? What is happening...
