What was the WASPS crowd today

Incidentally, just to go back to the OP - I saw the highlights of the game yesterday. The stadium looked a fair-bit more than half-empty, certainly behind both goals and the 'corporate' stand looked fairly sparse, and even on the side of the pitch where most fans seem to sit there seemed some...

What was the WASPS crowd today

SISU are not actually taking Wasps to court FFS. The proposed action is against the Council - if it's likely to affect Wasps they can be named as an interested party, as were Higgs and ACL in the last action. They're not actually obliged to defend their actions. But c'mon, you keep moaning on...

What was the WASPS crowd today

Actually, when I posted on their equivalent forum to this one, to ask how many would follow Wasps to Coventry - the split was somewhere around 80/20 or higher between those who can't or wouldn't, to those who would. Not overly scientific - but would make sense if you weren't trying to kid...

What was the WASPS crowd today

That's it. That's the only answer that you've got. Let's get a long term rent deal pinned down! I hope those who keep banging on about getting into partnership with Wasps have got a better plan than that. Let's ask that question on more time - because no one has yet given a straight answer...

What was the WASPS crowd today

Well I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone but myself, but I'd hope there might be more than a few with higher moral standards. I wouldn't go to support a franchise team just because it was somehow beneficial to CCFC's owners, whomever they might be. Again, if you're going to support...

City fans reply to Alan Poole article

Or you're just on a bit of a casual wind up, and having to discuss properly isn't as easy as chucking in hand grenades. And you didn't manage to work in a mention of the 'frothing masses' this time. I'm disappointed - I think you need to try harder too.

What was the WASPS crowd today

And again - a question that absolutely no one who says we need to do a deal with Wasps has answered: What exactly are Wasps going to offer us? They bought ACL for themselves, 100% for 250-years. Has anyone here even seen a hint of them offering the revenues to CCFC. It would be great if...

What was the WASPS crowd today

What's being hypocritical is supporting one franchise because you've suddenly found a passion for a sport that you couldn't even be bothered to go to the Butts (or Leicester) to watch, but being outraged when CCFC was moved to Northampton (or if it might be moved outside the city). That's...

    Simply The Best

Lloyd McGrath all day long for me. Not particularly subtle, not technically gifted, but the heart and soul of the team that won the cup and utterly, utterly fearless. You could see that he loved playing as well - that rare thing, a footballer who actually played with a smile on his face.

What was the WASPS crowd today

Kind of hypothetical, but regardless it wouldn't matter to me mate, quite honestly it wouldn't. If you believe franchising is wrong then you have to take a stand against it, even if that is at a financial penalty to the club (or the city) you support. Since we're on hypotheticals, what if...

What was the WASPS crowd today

Absolutely not, that would be supporting a franchise and that's not something that anyone should do, imho.

Byng the mysterious - he tweets

It's a fair point about his net worth, but I'd also have thought that any multi-billionaire Chinese investors might be a bit nervous about his reputation too. Getting slung out of your professional charter isn't something that would make me entirely comfortable if I was looking for someone to...

If they can't get land for 10,000 jobs then they won't get it for a stadium.

It does indeed make a difference, but it's described as greenbelt in a number of places, including here... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/southern_counties/4601378.stm And it's also either within or adjacent to an Area of Outstanding National Beauty depending on how you read it.

Fair comment Monners - and I defer to your better knowledge here. When it comes to politicians national and local (or kleptomaniac collies), a little cynicism goes a long way. :)

If they can't get land for 10,000 jobs then they won't get it for a stadium.

Absolutely fair point, Albatross. In truth Brighton did ultimately manage to build their stadium in green belt, and next to the very protected South Downs to boot. But it took them a very long time, as others here have pointed out. Even if everything else was in Fisher's favour, like having...

OK, the claim is that Pickles 'found' it. A bit like Appleton 'found' the golden share. That is conveniently, for a tasty reward. Being on this board makes a person cynical, eh. ;)

    SBT Statement

Is that seriously the best argument you've got? They just had to make a statement or someone might have complained. Then why bother with the vote to demand SISU's removal? 'Rape' is an absolutely piss-poor choice of word by the way.

If they can't get land for 10,000 jobs then they won't get it for a stadium.

Stuff that's planned to be built in green belt is often passed up or called into central government for review - the point being that green belt by definition is designed to prevent urban sprawl and protect the greater environment. To me that's quite a good thing, I don't want Coventry to...

In fairness I think there were some very big questions about the number of jobs that it would create, but there's no doubt about the amount of money it could have made the developers. This is nowhere near as black and white as it's pictured in this one article.
