    Robins has to go…

We’ve spent all this money, but haven’t actually addressed the essential ‘needs’ for this squad. Signing Bassette for 2.5m was great. But was signing a striker to be 4th choice a good idea when we missed out on our top 2 CM and CB targets? The midfield has actually had little investment in it...

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

It’s early days, MR is probably putting the young GK in his place to get him to work harder. On the Collins point, it seems that he is on too much money to easily shift and apparently v distant from the first teamers personally. Wilson was going into this season firmly as the number 2 option.

    The system

I think they lack guidance, all of our CBs are 25 and under. McFadz finished the season strongly last season and moved into a player-coaching role. I recall Kitching and/or Thomas talking about their relationship with McFadz early last season and how he guided them in training and so on -...

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

I wasn’t given specifics (nor did I ask) but was told he doesn’t take training as seriously as the others and as a principle, MR expects players to train as they play. Seems odd to me too but considering he hadn’t made any mistakes, it passes the sense check. The same person told me at...

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

I don’t believe Dovin has been dropped bc he’s seen as inferior to Wilson - he’s done nothing wrong in the games he’s played. I’m not claiming to be ITK, but a friend of mine was supposedly told that Dovin was dropped for having a poor attitude. After the matter, I was shown a text to him dated...

    Sheaf

Then they should’ve taken a second yellow and a one match ban then? At least we’d have come away with a point! If it was a 60-80th minute goal, I’d 100% agree with you. In stoppage time, you take the red card. Kitching did that against Blackburn away last season and we drew the game in the end...

    Quality of passing

I don’t think Chris Hughton was a Forest legend. In any case, if we got rid of MR, has there been any succession planning? Are they available and most importantly, will they take us forward? A brutally honest assessment of the squad is that the quality isn’t there to challenge at the top of the...

Match Thread Coventry City-SWFC Match Thread- Saturday 5th October

All of our forward players have looked poor this season. So one of the following has to be true. 1) all of our forwards are duds or 2) tactically, we’re not getting the best out of these players. Bearing in mind that Haji Wright, BTA and Simms scored a combined total of 46 goals last season, it...

The issue is players not performing in a way the coaching staff want them to. On one hand, I understand why MR will be frustrated with that. On the other hand, he needs to consider if the players can execute his tactical instructions. Both Sheaf and Eccles are good at keeping play alive and...

    Plan b?

A flexible 4-4-2 could work, plenty of teams run this as a defensive shape but in attack it’s a bit of a free-for-all with players attacking ‘space’ rather than positional play. In practice, you could run something like: 1) Rudoni-Eccles-Sheaf-Wright Here you would have Rudoni as a RM who...

    Quality of passing

Such a lazy argument. On one hand, AV leaving was a disaster and he has all the answers to our problems (exaggeration). On the other, our form for 20-30 games has been poor so perhaps MR should get sacked when AV was number 2. It’s 9 games in the league, you can’t really judge anything...

    Robins has to go…

You’ve just said it, the variables have changed so you need to wait to see what that impact is. End of last season was completely different too, we’d ran out of steam after a tough FA Cup run (small squad) and on top of that, mostly top 7-8 teams. Robins has been honest in saying the coaches...

When can we make a judgement?

If I was a football manager, my first priority would be to be tough defensively and most of the goals we’ve conceded this season have been too soft. It’s just a shame that both our experience is probably FM related! 😂 We’re football fans, if we knew exactly what to do, we wouldn’t have mundane...

I don’t think it’s Rudoni’s fault. Of the players taking ‘the easy options’ today, I think Sheaf and Eccles were guilty of this. They make some lovely switches, but they’re both guilty or either a) taking 2-3 passes to achieve the switch or b) just not putting the ball behind defences when...

    Robins has to go…

With respect to a few posters on here, there’s just too much emotional knee jerking here. You seen after the Blackburn win people serious said we have one of the best CM partnerships in the league. This was after one convincing win. You had the same in 2019/20 when we won the league. Had some...

When can we make a judgement?

I don’t think Robins will be under real threat unless we’re in serious trouble for relegation after January. An honest assessment of this team is that it’s top-heavy. So there’s multiple stakeholders at fault here and that includes King if @Saddlebrains intel is accurate about MR wanting Matty...

    The system

Until that’s addressed in the transfer market, it’s hard to judge Robins too harshly imo. I just think we’re scared as a team to put the ball in dangerous zones for our get the most out of our attacking players. Sheaf and Eccles are good deep lying playmakers, the issue is that they do basically...

When can we make a judgement?

Agree, it does start from the back but we had the same issues with Lati and Binks on the ball who to be fair to them, advance the ball better than Thomas and Kitching. Eccles and Sheaf played in the 22/23 season, but they were not our primary playmakers and now they are. I honestly believe that...

    The system

There’s not real change there. The players would be more or less stood in the same places. It’s a personnel issue. The best teams in possession exposed our attacking sets, for example, WBA (A) literally just moved side to side to stifle us last season. Defensively, Thomas and Kitching have...

    Robins has to go…

We don’t have great squad. The midfield is worse now than it was 22/23 and likewise, the defence. You can stack your team with attacking talent but they need the ball in dangerous positions. Likewise, we won’t win many games if we cannot clean sheet.
