Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Just trying to get a handle on this. It is supposed to be 50 minutes faster from Birmingham to Euston, only now it’s not going to Euston. The suggestion is that it will now stop at Old Oak. Just checked, Old Oak to Euston is 40 minutes on existing stock. So basically that gives 10 minutes to get...

But if you have choice between a route that takes you into central London from Birmingham on one train or a route that requires 2 trains and most likely no advantage on time which one are most people going to choose? If it’s not delivering you into central London it’s going to be underutilised...

Is this another case of the UK being unattractive to investors? The real issue being we can’t secure the extra funding needed to complete the projects most basic remit.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

To quote Robin Williams it’s like partial circumcision. Either go all the way or forget it. Surely if you have to get off a fast train on the outskirts of London to get a slow train to Euston it negates the purpose of the fast train in the first place. It’s barely quicker than existing routes...

Zahawi’s and Sunak’s. Neither one of them can stick to one version of events.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Sounds like the Zahawi soap opera is about to take another twist. A paper trail seems to confirm that the Financial Times had a FOI request in last June that 5 Tory MP’s including Zahawi were under investigation. There’s also a suggestion that Sunak was made aware of FOI and who it concerned...

Only thing I can see people getting angry on line for her is her speaking out in parliament yesterday about 200 children missing from immigration hotels.

Would also explain why Zahawi won’t/can’t resign. Nothing’s changed. Deny, send cabinet members out on the media trail to sound ridiculous, double down and attempt to style it out.

    Sarah Everard

The new MET police commissioner has admitted that it’s more than a few bad apples, more ghastly stories to come and 2-3 officers a week will be in court for weeks to come. I guess the only thing to say is at least they’re now taking it seriously or at least more seriously than his predecessor.

Just checked. Singapore has almost 4 times the number of police per 100k people than England and Wales has and well over double what Scotland and Northern Ireland has. Probably has something to do with why it’s one of the safest places to walk the streets.
