I’m pretty sure 4 headers would have had Simms up there with the top ‘headed’ scorers last season. In this respect, the ‘eye test’ has failed a lot of people saying we need a striker to score headers. As you point out, Simms has played half the minutes as Moore and a few contributors said Moore...

    Transfer Rumour Callum Wilson

Simms has stepped up and credit to him. Lampard needs to put some more trust in him. However, 4 strikers isn’t unusual. You need different profile of player for different scenarios and also as account for injuries. 1 big injury to BTA this season, Wright last season and we look a bit short, even...

I think Keiffer Moore and Simms are tied for most headed goals. Simms was possibly also the top scorer in headers last season too - he was definitely up there. Unless there’s a CB with 5 headed goals in the league somewhere, Moore and Simms are tied.

Quite a lot actually… 5 goals betweeen Simms and BTA. Simms has the same amount of headed goals as Keiffer Moore who some people seem to think would score a bagful of headers under us.

Likewise, though with them signing Johnson and Glasner not fancying him… thought there may be a glimmer of hope. As things stand, Palace do not seem to rate him an he’s been there a year now.

Does anyone know if there is any option/obligation to buy with this loan?

Same as PNE, Southampton and both Ipswich games. All these teams could bring on 5 subs and the quality was pretty similar. We got good striker options but no wingers or AMs to rotate. KKH, Wolf, Lati are all good players for their respective roles but as defenders, will rarely be game changers...

I agreed with you as of this morning. He’s not been out with any injuries this season to be fair but has only averaged 45m per game (same as YMK). A goal every 200 minutes in the Prem is surely too good to turn down for us if this was actually a viable move for us.

He hasn’t scored since October so right now, I wouldn’t be arsed if we sold Haji. The next game or two we need to see more from him.

We’d probably manage his minutes v carefully. Idk, I seem to remember the whole league thinking Deeney signing was a massive coup for Birmingham and he was dire. If there’s a position we could manage his workload, it’s upfront. We’ve got Haji, Simms and BTA already so it’s like Wilson needs to...

I’m sceptical even if we pulled off signing Wilson to be honest. I’d love to find out if it works out because he’s obviously too good for the Championship quality wise. It’s his durability that’s been a problem his whole career unfortunately because he could’ve right up there amongst the best...

It’s a perfect narrative, ‘the return of the prodigal son’. That said, he has one big contract left at a push. I’m not sure there will be many takers given his last last deal at West Ham didn’t work out. It’s risky, if he joins us on a short term deal and he smashes it, he gets a more...

It’s now or never for Wilson returning back to Cov. Both his career and our trajectory as a club are at crossroads and right now is as perfect a time for both parties to get a deal done. Personally, I don’t see it happening but one can dream.

If we started negotiations in September, strategically the club was operating on the assumption we’ll be in the playoffs and perhaps fighting for automatic promotion. Now we’re top by 5 points after the NY, the club needs ‘win now’ players to get us to the Prem. He’s in preseason mode fitness...

I never understand what people actually mean when they describe a footballer as a ‘luxury’. If his per 90 defensive stats are generally better than Sakamoto’s, he’s absolutely not a point in any sense of the word.

Yes, typing his name out in full is arduous work!

    Transfer Rumour Yang Min-hyeok

Statistically, Min-Hyeok Yang is more attacking, shoots more and surprisingly just as good defensively. I’m not sure if that’s complementary of Min-Hyeok Yang or an indication that Sakamoto is pretty average. However, the caveat here is that there’s much more data to draw upon for Sakamoto...

Not only us, Blackburn too. You could see there was something there but he definitely looked like he’d be one of many players who just didn’t have what it took to make it. Fair play to him, he’s looking like he’s making the step up from decent squad player to starter in a good BHA side.

Wasn’t Gyokeres one of the worst loans Swansea had? It’s all about the environment for most players and seeing how Pompey play, it’s probably not the best environment for him. They wanted to be more possession based but pragmatism has kicked in for them when it wasn’t particularly working...

    Transfer Rumour Romain Esse

He’s really stepped up in recent weeks, he’s by far our most potent attacking threat atm. Simms is doing a good job of converting chances but we all know he’s pretty useless in build up play. I’d like to see EMC score a few of those opportunities where he cuts in and shoots. He gets the space...
