Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’m not suggesting they do. The point I’m making is that he is at the coal face of promoting hate. Teachers today, Muslims last week. Tice was promoting hate against civil servants last week with conspiracy theories. Tory ministers promoting hate against lawyers alongside Reform, enemies of the...

I’m just going to assume that you’re being deliberately stupid and not bothering replying.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Of course they are. Not as much as the idiots who voted Truss to be MP, she even told them that she would crash the economy. Yet you deem them experienced enough to vote.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That’s more to do with gambling laws than anything else. How do you judge who can be trusted with a vote? I’d argue and with good reason that any members of the Tory Party that voted Truss in as leader of the Tory party and PM by default can’t be trusted with a vote.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Ironically he was hate preaching about school teachers not five minutes before the attack. 1 in 5 school teachers are assaulted a year on average. Maybe if he displayed some respect for for others who are far more vulnerable to personal attacks than he is people might have a bit more sympathy...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

He clearly means personal tax, ie they’re living and working in said country legally. Not VAT on anything you might purchase on holiday. Why do people keep jumping to extremes that no one meant in the first place as the line of defence. It’s moronic.

Red wall Tories especially. The excellent Dan Hodges is preempting defections to Reform from the Red wall Tories.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

What about if you got Italian citizenship? I know you don’t technically need it being Irish but presumably then you’d be free to vote in all Italian elections? What would be the financial cost? Presumably you could have dual nationality with Ireland so won’t lose your Irish citizenship and...

Oooo look over there. It’s irrelevant, we left get over it.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

They can in council elections but not general elections. Which is stupid. Problem for many born overseas is the cost of getting your UK citizenship with the only real benefit being to vote in the GE. I know someone very well who can’t vote in a general election living in the UK from about 18...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Being older than 16 doesn’t automatically make you more sensible, as evidence of this I present Liz Truss. 16 is the age you become an adult in law so it’s only right that they get the vote. You’re being deliberately flippant saying why not let 13 year olds and it adds nothing to the discussion...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

There’s a far stronger case for capping right to vote at 75 than there is for stopping 16 and 17 year olds having a vote. Not least because the law of averages says that at 76+ you’re unlikely to see that parliament out unlike a 16 or 17 year old . My eldest is going to narrowly miss out voting...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The real question is what’s he going to campaign on? It can’t be on how Brexit has benefited Clacton, because it hasn’t. So basically he’s left with the same phoney culture war as the Tories. It’s going to be an interesting result either way.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Depends. The only reason that the Tories have bought down the amount of outstanding vacancies for nurses is because of immigration. So the first thing you need to establish is what immigration puts a strain on infrastructure and what cancels that out with a gain. Clearly housing is an issue but...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Ahh okay, so now you want to move the goalposts. Didn’t France famously use conscripts in Algeria and Vietnam? Both I’m sure in your lifetime.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

That’s a stretch even for you. The fact is democratic European countries do have national service. I knew about Finland as its been a talking point since Russia invaded Ukraine with your blessing, not sure why I knew Austria has it and Norway made the news when they passed law that women as well...

You’re confusing me with yourself. Do you still have your Nigel avatar on file? Sounds like you’ll be needing it again if that’s true, like you did last time you voted for him. You’ve probably filled it under #theman.

Only because you know fuck all. Finland for instance, pretty sure Austria does too off the top of my head. In Norway it’s compulsory for men and women to do national service.
