Nobody is saying there will be zero hospitalisations. Its simple maths, lower percentage hospitalised but increased transmission can still lead to increased hospitalisations overall...

You absolutely can say that and most people would hope that was correct. What you can't do is jump from hoping that is the case to being so certain it is that all restrictions are removed. There's still unknowns, and people keep forgetting that a reduction in hospitalisations is not the same...

Knew it would be something like this. Which of course means if we listen to 'just let them leave' the replacements will be on more so they will have in effect given the pay rise anyway but spent months without drivers while they recruit.

Would I believe the Mail? Not as a general rule tbh. Interesting that 'experts say' equates to two professors from the University of East Anglia who, a quick google reveals, put their name to the Great Barrington Declaration and have been saying we should just 'let it rip' and have no...

Isn't this how it works for every vaccine? If you're not up to date according to the required vaccine schedule you're not considered vaccinated. I'm pretty sure we should be using a system at least as robust as the one required by my dog to go to daycare.

Its in one state and only in place until midday on Monday. Not sure we're quite at the bundling people into the back of vans stage.

    Bin Strikes

Odds on that being one person who is on way more than anyone else and only gets paid that much because they work a load of overtime? Otherwise you would have to question how there can be over £24K difference in the pay of two people doing exactly the same job.

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Interesting / worrying thread from the CEO of NHS Providers saying we've made the same mistake again of assuming London is representative of the rest of the country and that's not what the emerging picture shows.

Why is our council so unprofessional? That statement reads like it was written by an upset kid after a playground argument. Interestingly they state the highest paid driver earns £52,163, you can go on any job website and find shedloads of class 1 HGV vacancies for £50K upwards so that doesn't...

Indeed but it baffles me that other, newer, leagues look at the mess football is in and decide that's a viable business model to follow. Premiership Rugby another example.

    Coventry United Ladies

Looks like they play 22 games a season, so that's 11 home games plus sponsorship to cover the cost of running the team. Can't find attendance figures but it seems as though that league celebrates a crowd of 500 as a huge achievement and looking from the match photos on line I would be surprised...

Which would be over 50K a year. So if we're having that debate the first thing to establish is how much that number would go up if we remove all restrictions as it seems when people say living with it they don't actually mean living with it they mean going back to exactly how things were...

I think a couple of points are being missed or mis-interpreted. Omicron being milder doesn't mean its 'like the flu' or people don't end up in hospital and dying. Its the smaller percentage of a bigger number issue again. Omicron hospitalisations are said to be about a third of Delta according...

    The future of the club

As the saying goes 'even a stopped clock is right twice a day'. Its the old issues of running a football club vs running a business. As football fans we want money spent and call upon the owners to write blank cheques with, at best, a very slim chance of a return. But from a business...

My Dad is in the at risk category and has followed all the government advise which essentially means he hasn't left the house since this whole thing started. He got taken into hospital Christmas Day and now has covid. As the doctor put it to me there is not a single patient in hospital who is...

Keep seeing this mentioned on here but can't find any source for it when I google. Where has it come from? That would equate to what, 130 deaths in total if the whole population of the UK got covid yet there's already been 317 deaths reported this year.

    The future of the club

Not sure its that simple. Staying a mid table championship club is OK in theory but with one of the smaller budgets in the league it seems inevitable to me that at some point relegation is inevitable. Of course the big question then would be are we capable of getting back at the first attempt...

Best TV shows or movies you can recommend

There's a terrible US versions of Spaced and The IT Crowd but they look like masterpieces compared to the US version of Peep Show. Apparently a US version of The Young Ones exists, or at least a pilot, but it was so bad it never made it to air and never got leaked. There's a remake of This...
