Oh Lord - RIP John Sillett

His achievement of winning us the FA Cup in 1987 has probably been devalued in the recent years, due to the lack of importance given to the competition by so called bigger clubs. However in 1987, winning the cup was just as important as the league title for every club. He was an infectious...

I think he will stay on, Obviously we need to see more, but he wouldn't be named on the bench almost every week without being in Robin's plans. Keeping out Shipley, Da Costa etc who were regulars last year. He's not going to be demanding silly money, and can play a few roles. If he wants...

Absolutely agree. From all accounts he was going to Leeds in The Championship during our L2 season, and we need an impact sub that can run at tiring defenders and has flair. I’ve been disappointed Robins has not used him more in games to be honest

So we end up with 3 RWBs. With one to play on the wrong side. No thanks

Got a sneaky feeling for a 2-1 win tomorrow (Gyks & Hamer for us). I'd play the box formation and push Hamer further forward. Kane & Sheaf in for Godden and Dabo

I think we need Waghorn back around the team, he was a great link man, and would be a decent replacement for one of the strikers or O'Hare if we're chasing a game.

    Creating chances

Allen's gone off again, when he fought himself back into the team earlier in the season I thought he was brilliant, goal vs Reading and his performance v Cardiff at home

Match Thread Birmingham City (H) - 7:45 Tue 23rd Nov

First half, thought we were excellent, cut them open numerous times, but as always O'Hare and Dabo's final balls weren't good enough + Viktor is off form in front of goal, however his link up play was brilliant. We lost a bit of control 2nd half, but still created the best chances, and was...

    Ben Sheaf

Always liked Sheaf, even last season. A midfielder who can dictate a game, with a fine range of passing.

Robins with an eye on Tuesday can be the only reason he substituted Gyks and Sheaf (both outstanding). Think Kelly should of started instead of Allen, with Hamer pushed further forward. Moore, McFadz and Kane all excellent. For all our control for 60 mins, we didn’t create much.

Kelly on for Hamer for me at HT. Then Godden for Allen if we’re chasing a goal. Can’t afford to lose Gus on the hour, as he is bound to be targeted by Sheff U in the 2nd half

Pask and Drysdale don't seem to be part of MR's plans, I wonder if Robins is thinking George Burroughs and the new lad Abel Alabi may be adequate cover for the CB position. If we lost JCS and McFadz to injury (or suspension), one of those would need to be called upon. I don't want to see Dabo...

McCallum was good in the air, and defensively sound, but Maatsen is faster, has more trickery, and offers far more attacking threat. Some of McCallum passing last season was shocking. + We're 4th in the league, with 3 of the same back 5 that played regularly last season. I would suggest Maatsen...

    SKY and Sheffield United Away

I remember what an absolute dull fest that game was, but we should never of lost it. As you say they should of had 10 men, and our goal was clearly over the line. Charles-Cook then flapped at a corner and it hit Billy Sharp.

First chunk in Robins impenetrable armour?

I actually think we miss Waghorn for his link play. He was being used more as a No 10, but with Godden back in, we have 2 out & out Centre Forwards. We do have some deeper squad issues though, with no left footed centre half to compete with JCS, and no left wing back to compete with Maatsen...

    Swansea (H) - Tuesday 2nd - 19:45

I actually thought we looked quite dangerous going forward 1st half, even more so than most of the Derby game. However Swansea seemed to cut through us every time they went forward, and of course we conceded 2 soft goals. Robins seems to think we were much better 2nd half. Maybe defensively...

Robins really doesn’t like using substitutes.

    Match Thread Hull City (A) - Sat 30th Oct - 3pm KO

He’s so much more offensive than McCallum, which helps us going forward. Sam did produce some great performances at the end of last season when we decided to play a more direct style, and he’s a great athlete, but I remember tearing my hair out at some of his passing for the 1st half of the...

We looked tired and off our game against Derby. Hopefully no midweek game will benefit us. Hyam and Dabo need to improve, and quickly. Hopefully Viktor will be fully fit. 1-2 to Cov
