    Andy Thorn is back...

And that's when you're not worked up.......

    Andy Thorn is back...

I'd agree re Chelsea. Clubs like them probably have a significant scouting infrastructure around the world to avoid the poor "super scout" having to wander around doing it all himself. As I recall Bobby Gould went to watch Pearce play for Wealdstone at Yeovil, on the back of a recommendation...

    Andy Thorn is back...

Then you could set an example by being realistic about what a scouts role is i.e. Checking out recommendations - Yes Wandering around central Africa hoping to spot the next Pele playing in the middle of the road - No

    Andy Thorn is back...

You really expect SISU to fund speculative scouting trips to the middle of Africa??????

    Andy Thorn is back...

I'd have thought it was a pretty major part of a scout's job to follow up on recommendations to see if they agree that a player is any good - rather than just buying someone "cos he was recommended...". Although given many of our signings over the last couple of years, perhaps that's exactly...

Nick Proschwitz the first to get away....

There have been many occasions in the last couple of years when having someone running round shouting "Don't panic" would have been very useful!

    Wow factor signings

I remember being hugely excited about the signing of Colin Stein. it got even better when the following week we signed some bloke called Hutchison.....

    Cost of Matchday hospitality

Legends is a bit of a cheaper option. You get a lounge to go in before the game, at half time and afterwards, but it doesn't include the dining options that some of the packages have.

    Cost of Matchday hospitality

Not sure that that will be the issue in this particular case - the lounge was always packed last season!

    Cost of Matchday hospitality

I think that the issue is around some of the other corporate hospitality, where other bookings have (presumably) already been taken for match days. I had a number of tickets in the Legends club last season. On a number of occasions we were "relocated" for games as the normal lounge had a prior...

Good move. Hope that it does help increase the crowds.

    Gordon Milne

The year we had Graydon (and then Nardiello) on the right and Hutch on the left, it was much more of a 4-2-4.

    League cup draw 10am

I just hope that TM doesn't ask where Rochdale is! (For the older members of SBT)

CCFC- what do we want on Match-days?

It was just before my time, but I remember reading about marching bands, RAF dog teams and other such "gimmicks".

CCFC- what do we want on Match-days?

I thought our first Sky game was at home to Spurs, with Sonia as the "entertainment" together with skydivers and fireworks. 1-0 win, with John "he's so fast it's unbelievable" Williams scoring.

Mowbray wants to bring back Proschwitz permanently...

Didn't see that myself. I thought that Madine offered a physical presence whereas Proschwitz seemed to be very lightweight for a big guy - and he didn't show much else. I'm surprised at the news, but TM deserves plenty of "benefit of the doubt" as far as I'm concerned so I look forward to...

update on odds and ends off the pitch

I can only speak for myself, but beyond a degree of moral disapproval my main concern with the breaking of the rent deal was that I foresaw disaster. I recall when one or two on here were lauding the hard nosed approach being taken by the club, I cautioned that I was concerned we were starting...
