Plus they bore the major brunt of WWI and effectively lost a generation. So a generation later in WWII they didn't have as many able people to resist.

I was using the expected death rate because the initial comment I believe was about closing the schools would 'only reduce deaths by 3-4%'.

Doing tests. Not passed tests. No-one should be pushing it as a cure/help at this moment in time. Trump is.

It is a big deal. In fact it's a massive deal. When you're the head of state during a crisis and you want people to take it seriously and you flippantly show disdain and disregard for the medical advice in front of the TV cameras you're encouraging people to also ignore it and thus endangering...

It won't help him as chances are it will have caused some minor lung damage. But hopefully he will come through it and recover soon.

But if we end up having say 20k deaths as expected that's between 600 and 800 deaths!

Disgraceful behaviour by the US. Commandeered US made ventilators destined for abroad that had been paid for, then when someone else does similar to them with a drug (which hasn't passed any clinical trials and on Trump's 'advice' is causing problems for American's taking it) they threaten them...

But he was offered the opportunity to deny he had ever said it and didn't do so, instead doing the usual politician speak of babbling on about some other point.

As I've said before get off the fixation of daily figures, esp death rates. You seem to just have a knee-jerk reaction based on hem every day. They've gone down "good news, looks like we've turned a corner". They go back up again "terrible news, weeks left until the peak". People said to you...

and if he doesn't we'll have a few right wing nutcases sickeningly claiming he was deliberately treated badly as 'revenge' for his views and voting on the NHS in the past. As well as others using it as proof that the NHS is a failure as it couldn't even save the PM whereas if he'd had private...

    David Icke Again

Dave Gorman said he wanted to get one of those chips from cat collars that open the cat flap put in his hand so he could unlock his house, but no-one would put the chip in.

Of course the virus won't have magically disappeared and restrictions can be lifted and we carry on as normal. Restrictions will be partially lifted or eased for a bit, then re-tightened if and when necessary to make the number of cases a steady stream (hopefully over time reducing to a trickle)...

ICU is what it says - intensive care. Not somewhere you tend to go as a precaution, and esp given the pressure on ICU's at the moment. Being PM I imagine he will be getting exceptionally good treatment but they wouldn't put him in an ICU bed unless it was necessary I don't think. I was...

    Coronavirus

Johnson isn't president. The Conservative party were elected at the election and he happened to be leader of that party. No election when Brown followed Blair or when May followed Cameron or indeed when Johnson succeeded May. His deputy will step up initially (Raab I think at the moment) and...

Well that's good news, all be it on a very small scale. Keep an eye on it and don't just convince yourself it's easing off if it isn't. Take care.

HIGNFY can be good for public profile if you come across well or are at least memorable like Johnson and JRM have been on the program and afterwards become much more prominent in the party. One seemingly to avoid is Last Leg. Political graveyard. Clegg, Miliband, Corbyn, Soubry. And Jess...

Never said i thought he was pretending. I specifically stated I hope he gets better soon - why would I say that if I thought he was pretending? I said I was sceptical about whether he would use it to avoid facing scrutiny until the tide turned and then re-appear. So for the record once again...
