EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

Thing is with act of God, no church/mosque/synangoue et could ever get insurance. As God controls everything, everything is an act of God. However if you're an atheist you can say there is no God, therefore it cannot be an act of God. All insurance companies could say they were aligned to a...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

I think you do need to reflect the standard of the teams you've already played in the outcome (and thus points likely to pick up from remaining fixtures) . I did do an extremely simplified version of this in a thread somewhere adjusting for league standings (both as is and on current PPG) and it...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

HA HA SISU winning a 'morally right' argument. What utter tosh. Council have been far from squeaky clean in this but their stance has hardened over time because they decided to fight fire with fire. Was it morally right to force people to give up their shareholdings for nothing? Was it...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

I'd love it to but it won't unless it sees reduced broadcast rights income in future. Whether that will happen or not is hard to say but if it did clubs would have no choice but to reduce costs and players to accept lower salaries.

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

"League fixtures must be completed within 30 days of the original schedule. Should league fixtures be unable to be finished by this time due to any unforeseen circumstances, including, but not restricted to, war, public health dangers or natural disasters, the league will be concluded as...

Other option is to sit on it for now but if you move to another job you could anonymously tip off the authorities.

    Detroit City FC

I really should like Detroit as it is the US equivalent of Coventry. But I just can't get any enthusiasm for the place. Never visited, so maybe if one day I did my opinion would change.

L1 & L2 Clubs to discuss wage cap?

If PL especially brought in a wage cap a lot of the foreign talent would prob choose to go elsewhere. That would lose some of the international market interest (which is PL main growth area) due to not having players from that nation playing here and longer term a lower standard. That would...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

They would claim there should be a catch all clause saying if the season cannot be finished for unforeseen circumstances this is what will happen. Not like there is no precedent as stuff got cancelled for WWII so guidelines should have been put in place then..

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Nah Nick would just two-foot him onto the naughty step and make him clap the NHS until his hands were little more than stumps. Good old fashioned sensible parenting.

But they could also claim the situation arose because the EFl hadn't planned for the possibility, so they are still at fault for not setting out guidelines and thus liable. I've got no idea which way any of these cases would go. It's usually safer to err on side of defendant as onus of proof...

    Bristol City Captain

So the season would start at a point when it would ordinarily be halfway through. And no-one can see a knock-on problem from this? If we can't play until Jan then that'd be just under a year from when it was postponed. So just carry on from where we are now.

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

Footballers aren't astronauts though. They're young men who have a tendency to be impetuous and increasingly self-important given their wealth and influence. We've had issues before at world cups where managers have said the biggest problem is keeping them entertained over the tournament...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

There is the issue of influence over society though. Few people will look at Dave the bricklayer and thinks "we'll if he's not following the guidelines I'm not". In fact few people will even see him at all. Make it Harry Kane on a football field spending all day grappling with a centre back...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

Do you reckon we had a less strict lockdown because we're more stand-offish and reserved as a nation so it wasn't as necessary? Just gave us an excuse to do what comes naturally

They were all talking about how amazing it was how an old person could have a No.1. From my experience with grandparents etc old people are constantly having no.1's. The thing that got me was they were saying who great it was a 99yo was top of the charts and ignoring the fact a 103yo was fav...

Top. Even if you adjust it taking into account current league positions for deciding remaining games and home/away bias. I did do the maths in a post somewhere
