If you are playing Godden, Palmer and COH up front, who don’t tackle back much, I guess Robins feels he has to have a defensive central midfield set up. The answer isn’t to pick Godden and Palmer in the starting 11. Then you can play Allen or Torp in there.

I think you might find ‘the brigade’ is quite large because Godden has been pretty anonymous and largely a passenger for some time. Obviously we need to transition away from him soon. I guess you disagree…

I think at the minute Allen would start before Torp if Eccles needs a rest. Still too early for Torp in an important league game. Godden definitely needs benching.

I would agree that’s the best starting 11 but I suspect he will play Palmer instead of Simms.

Do we really think at this point Wright has ‘been a major success’?? He had a poor start, has recently shown promise before injury and has integrated with the squad well but he certainly has some way to go before proving himself never mind ‘a major success’ label.

Most reports have Wright at £7.5m and Simms between £6m and £8m. So yes it was the majority. Doug won’t be spending his own money and outgoings won’t generate much so I wouldn’t expect much proven quality coming in next season.

The truth is the majority of our Gok, Hamer money went into two quite oddball forwards. Both lacking confidence and natural aggression. Both with what seems a smallish window of what they are actually good at. The trouble is I don’t think a lot of money will be put into a quality Godden...
