    Match Thread Stevenage (A)- 23/07/24

At least we have good news! Sheaf can't be dead because here he is having a healthy piss in a Stevenage shower...

    Victor Torp

I think Thorp, Collins and Kitching all went through relegation seasons with their clubs. An interesting dynamic. How long it takes to adjust after that. Mentality wise.

    Victor Torp

Not really. He must have known he was in and being looked at by English teams with a January start window. As I say. He certainly didn't have a usual preseason though.

    Victor Torp

That's fair. Although he didn't walk off the plane with his shorts on and go straight on the pitch as some were suggesting. He had more than a month off. He didn't play much last year, had a couple of injuries and is reportedly injured again now. So there is a question mark there. Here's...

    Victor Torp

He finished his Danish season in November and signed for us Jan 11th, debuted 26th Jan.

    The Kase(y) for Palmer

In the end he's probably a luxury player. Looks like there's some quality there but never really delivers and isn't athletic enough to contribute to defensive phases. He doesn't have impact when brought on as a sub either.

    Josh Eccles

Torp hasn't done enough yet to warrant a starting 11 spot before Eccles. He's showed some glimpses of quality but has often been too slow and is apparently made of glass. MR will go with Eccles because he is a decent all rounder who can offer some protection to the back line.

    What do we still need?

The squad depth is getting there. Still not sure we have enough first 11 quality. I hope Dovin is quality and has enough aggression about him to help steady the defence. The other question is whether MR quickly establishes his best 11 and formation. Last season was a bit of a mess early on.

    Transfer Rumour Oliver Dovin

Excellent news. Hopefully commands the box and steadies our back 4 down.

Yeah it was all down to Bill Gates hiring 200 jumbo jets dripping with Sarsons.

Me personally or a few hundreds of millions individual drivers? I think most science suggests the latter makes a significant difference. Unless it's all made up by the WEF and George Soros.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The inevitable 'another hazard will take its place'. Laughable halfwittery. The car park and pothole is pure Daily Mail nonsense. It could apply to any large vehicles (and there are plenty of SUV's) turning up en masse in the same place and time. That doesn't happen. Anyway EV's are getting...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

A lot of nonsense here. All EV's now have regen braking, and increasingly commonly one pedal driving, which uses much less friction braking. If anything the issue is lack of brake use which can cause disc rusting. Inhaling tyre rubber that well known danger compared to exhaust emissions. Lolz...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That's misinformation. 'It takes less than two years for a typical EV to pay off the “carbon debt” from its battery. Over the full vehicle lifecycle, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from an EV are around three times lower than an average petrol car. In reality, therefore, an EV in Europe will pay...

    Starting 11

Our form in the run in was really poor and defensively we looked like an accident waiting to happen most of the last 10 games. But hey maybe that's sensationalist to you. Yaaawn.

    Starting 11

The defence remains the biggest concern. We finished the season poorly with a lot of sloppy goals. Obviously a new good keeper will help, as will Saka tackling back. But there was too much running through Sheaf and Eccles, too much dodgy centre back play and jds ain't it! Need another left...
