Neither club or player are to blame. They are both doing what they're allowed to in the rules. So it's the rules that are the problems, which makes it the fault of those that set the rules.

Just look back at that pre-season with Mowbray. That was effectively essentially the same. Doesn't matter if we sign 2 players or 22players, there will always be someone saying we should sign more, or should have signed someone else instead.

Bit of an odd one IMO given MR's just said we haven't got budget to bring in a player in a position we're far more desperate in. I can only imagine Rochdale will be paying his entire wages for the year, but even then players usually get a signing on fee.

I see your point, but you do say "do as much as possible". The problem is that there is a massive disparity in what people consider is 'as much as possible'. Unfortunately there are plenty of those in power who think that's far less than others do. Sometimes not even because they can't do it but...
