    24/25 changes?

Sakamoto is a decent player but you really think he is that absolutely central to our overall performance? I mean MR didn’t even play him a reasonable chunk of the season. The defence is nowhere near ready and midfield is plodding, even more so with COH gone. We will finish mid table. 4 new...

    24/25 changes?

That doesn’t make any sense. We’ve had a poor run in with most of the first 11 fit. We’ve leaked goals all over the place with an unimpressive defence and midfield have been uninspiring. There’s quite a lot of work to do.

Match Thread Blackburn Rovers - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 27th Apr

Why would you risk injuring the likes of Simms, Wright and MVE who are totally knackered and potentially at risk of injury in a meaningless match? How would you feel if they were played and got injured? Expect a weak lineup.

    New number one needed

What is a concern is that he is weak at the instinctive things. A split second to decide whether to punch or come out. We’ll actually he if pretty weak and wimpy in general.

Collins was the lead Barnsley keeper when they shipped a load of goals and got relegated in 2022. Kitching was in that team as well. obv we saw development in them along with Thomas (who joined Barnsley on loan after relegation). I think Thomas will do ok, he’s still quite inexperienced and...

Match Thread Blackburn Rovers - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 27th Apr

I think quite a few will be carrying knocks or knackered and will be rested. So expect a weak team and probably a loss. But please let’s see a fairly solid defensive display and no howlers. Up to MR whether Collins will benefit from a mental rest. Another cock up or two might be quite...

How did We'll Live and Die in these Towns start before kick offs?

Certainly something different and special having an anthem song like that. 6.9m views now.

I presume you are a WUM. Talking about the keeper and our repeatedly shaky defence prone to howlers. We’ve had a poor year at the back. A new quality keeper would make a big difference to giving them some leadership and settling them down.

    Let’s hope so.

    New number one needed

Sadly I doubt MR will bring in a new #1 keeper. He’s a stubborn guy and it would be embarrassing to ask for another keeper (ahead of someone just brought in on a 3 year contract to do that). Especially after being quite open about the lack of squad depth re outfield players. I hope I’m...

    New number one needed

The guy just cost us a really important game, has been repeatedly weak and dodgy and has got worse if anything. I doubt defenders have any confidence in him defending a corner or coming off his line to help the defence or dealing with a back pass. A weak indecisive keeper just drains confidence.

    Doug on CWR

Doug and his backers remain a bit of a mystery. I think we know they haven’t the inclination or probably funds to invest, speculate. So if we don’t get any further Gok money I think it will probably be a fairly low key summer of recruitment, certainly in terms of £££ quality signings. Just...

    New number one needed

I’m not sure you can coach aggression or the absolute will to keep a striker out even if it hurts you. I think we’ve seen enough of Collins and we’ve had enough fannying around. We need a much better and assertive keeper to help settle the whole defence down.

    Doug on CWR

Right at the start he suggested that. Whether he did, somehow accounted separately from other club funds, and how much is another matter.

    Doug on CWR

Doug has been quite a lucky owner so far inheriting a large windfall on Gok, Hamer sales. This is where it will get tougher, unless he gets another Gok windfall. Will he put his hand in his own pockets a bit to speculate on building success and gates? and we could do without a complete end of...

How do you know he’s invested his own money in the training ground? And how much was invested anyhows?

The striker reacts to how much aggression the keeper is showing. If you think you’re going to get damaged by a keeper willing to do anything to protect his goal you back off.

Match Thread Coventry City - Hull City Match Thread - Wednesday 24th Apr

The top priority is a new keeper. We’ve been fannying around too long with nervous, indecisive, weak kneed types who give the defence zero confidence. We want a big, aggressive , confident fooker who can command the box, come off his line and shout at defenders doing stupid things. It won’t...

Match Thread Coventry City - Hull City Match Thread - Wednesday 24th Apr

That’s the vague stuff. We need 2 or 3 quality first team players to challenge and that will increase the squad size. The question is specially who do they replace?
