Cyrus Christie - I need to know.

He was poor in his last season here, clearly didn't want to be here. The other seasons he was pretty good. I think it's a case of maturing as a player and playing somewhere where he enjoys his football is getting the best out of him.

How can SP say this squad is better????

Yea I said the signs were there, the signs were there from the beginning of the season tbh. Once we stopped scoring goals we were going to be in trouble. I wouldn't say we'd been worked out though, it was more we had zero depth after the first 11 imo. I seem to remember that was the time we...

How can SP say this squad is better????

He is right though, going into November we were placed 13th in the table. Going into January 1st we were 12th in the table and 10th after the new years day win. The signs were there through November/December and it slowed down but it didn't really burst until after the FA Cup win at Barnsley...

How can SP say this squad is better????

There were the signs of it in November to Jan, the two hammerings by Tranmere and Rotherham and failure to beat one of the worse teams at home in Crewe.

    Why we are struggling....

Doesn't help with fans scattered all over the place in small pockets

    Close the North Stand!

Even so I can't imagine it being that bad in the east stand if you sit as far away from the scoreboard as possible.

    Close the North Stand!

Agree with the original post. Terrible decision to reopen it.

Don't think so, free transfer with sell on clauses from Sunderland.

How can SP say this squad is better????

Adams was better than Haynes and Pugh imo. Clarke is probably better defensively than Christie but we had Clarke last season also, so losing Christie inevitably makes that position weaker. Midfield is significantly weaker without the goals and assists of Moussa and Baker and I can't believe...

How can SP say this squad is better????

We're not that bad compared to the rest of league 1, compared to the players we had last season we're much worse off in the first 11. Only position you could argue we have strengthened is central defence with Johnson. Full backs, midfielders and strikers are all worse.

    Formation and team

Yea and the two before that were Mcdonald and Dunn, great business.

    Formation and team

Most squads are shocking in this division, we should have enough to be around the top 10 or 8 teams.

    Formation and team

I think on Thomas form the last 6 months, Finch deserves a run of 4/5 games to see what he can do. If he isn't up to standard then bring Thomas back in. Pressley seems to rate him highly and he seemingly has the attributes to make a good defensive midfielder, he's about 6 foot 2 so should bring...

------------- Allsop Clarke---Hines---Reda---Pugh -----------Finch--- Fleck --O'Brien-----Swanson---Coulibaly ----------------Nouble Dunno if that would be any good, just throwing another suggestion out there.

We must go back to 4-4-2

Needs to be changed, not sure 442 is the answer either. If we go to a flat back 4 I think we need a genuine holding midfielder in the 'makelele' role which I don't think we have. 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or the diamond could be viable formations.

    Look on the bright side

tbf without those crappy loans we'd be in an even worse positon, Nouble and Mcquoid are the only strikers who have made a notable contribution this season.
  20. SkyBlue_Bear83

Will Pressley dig his own grave?

I'd probably go 4231, play a flat back 4 with a holding anchor man in front of them. Not sure who would play the holding role though, Thomas runs around a lot but not sure he is disciplined or strong enough to play this, only other option is maybe Finch and that isn't ideal. Not convinced...
