Too afraid to offend, speak up and you’re a racist - I don’t know. This shit was tried with Sanders in America - difference was he came out guns blazing and stopped it in its tracks.

Perception? The red wall fell because of Labour’s appalling Brexit position, but it had been crumbling at the edges for a while. What are they looking to see from a Labour leader that will win back their vote? Labour can’t win without taking this back. Their offer needs to be transformative...

I agree with you - but when you start to dig beyond the surface of what is a very complex situation then you start to see things like this occur. If I was to accuse the Israeli government of being an apartheid state (which it is) there would be some people saying that was anti-semitic (not on...

Treading very carefully here..... there is a correlation between those that support Palestinian rights and those that are supposedly ‘vehement anti-semites’

My concern is that we see something like today, where he acted decisively (and probably correctly despite it being very flimsy) and yet on other things him and his shadow cabinet haven’t. Have I missed him calling for Jenrick to go - where the Daily Mail are rampant on it? Nandy not knowing if...

Really? Their policy on supporting renters during lockdown was very poor. EDIT: I’m not actually suggesting they are pro -austerity but I certainly don’t want to see us drift back to being ambivalent about it.

Did you not see the infamous article where she said ‘Labour would have cut deeper than the Tories’ re: Austerity If we are talking about how things look then sticking her as a front line shadow cabinet is not good for an anti-austerity party (if that’s what we even are anymore)

Reeves... she’s got a big thing for austerity. Maybe not a good look for Labour....

    Bit warm

Good thing we’re chock full of common sense.

Of which I agree - sorry I think I misunderstood your point. There is a whole other discussion over the validity of the AS ‘crisis’ - save that for the thread when the EHRC report comes out.

The claim was that Labour was institutionally racist however complaints made to the General Secretary accounted for 0.07% of the membership in total. Which was less than the same figure for AS and Islamaphobia in the Conservative Party.

Depends on your point of view. I’m not sure 0.07% of your members classes as institutional.

I do agree with this, and for this reason she should have been more careful with her sharing of the article. The EHRC report is due imminently too - I think it’s a symbolic move as much as anything.

State of those beaches - why do people have to be so scummy with their litter. They should just close them for a period of time and fine every twat that ignores it.

Other rumours that he wanted rid of her because she was more supportive of Teaching Unions over their resistance to school re-opening.. which is not the Labour message. Again rumours though and if it were true made easy by this error of judgement.

Right decision really.... She clearly didn’t do it intentionally but naive and should have checked the article properly.

This is why open selection should at least be mandatory at every election cycle. Let the constituents decide if you are serving them adequately. Is it perfect? Perhaps not but it would keep more of them on their toes.
