It used to belong to the club, building the Connexion was an initiative of Jimmy Hill when he was Chairman of the club, it wasn't a success but times have changed. I don't think the club are contemplating a move of training base because they've invested in Ryton but buying up that adjacent land...
It was better than the 50's but contraceptive pills and the tendency to marry later might have had something to do with it.
I'm fairly sure their are multiple reasons, there is likely no simple explanation.
If we don't go up I think Collins will be going and a better replacement will come in for Wilson, meanwhile maybe Bell will be able to step up. If we do go up I believe we will definitely sign an experienced Premiership standard keeper.
