CCFC should buy Cov Rugby Club

Fwiw it's a 125 year lease. Whatever stands are built be they at a new ground or the butts (or even the existing Ricoh) will not have a use life that long.

CCFC should buy Cov Rugby Club

The Brandon story may be credible. In any case, be it the Ricoh, Butts or Brandon; it seems daft to only use a multi-million pound facility 20 odd times per year when it is proved that double that is doable without ruining the pitch. A joint rugby and association football ground is just sensible.

Conor Thomas must be dropped from SP's starting 11

I agree with the OP. Some players excel at youth and then don't make it (Franny Jeffers comes to mind). Or go off the rails (Kevin Thornton). Thomas hasn't progressed as expected for whatever reason and is not (in current form) the right man for this team.

CCFC should buy Cov Rugby Club

I guess it depends on the length of the lease. A 100 year lease is as good as freehold sometimes.

CCFC should buy Cov Rugby Club

Following in from the Butts thread and the Wasps debacle, it may be that if SISU had any business brains (which they don't) they could put the cat amongst the pigeons and buy Coventry RFC. On a purely hypothetical basis, it could actually work. Bramall Lane, Meadow Lane, the KC stadium...

A Coventry Team at the Ricoh?

I voted for the Sphinx, it's all down to circumstance I guess. If (big if) the Sphinx got through to the 1st round of FA Cup and drew some team like Wolves, then I think very few people would object to be honest. (didn't Cov Sporting use HR once or twice?) Similar thing with Nuneaton at a push...

Connor thomas to sheff utd. (rumour)

Reply to DALYCOV I live near Crystal Peaks now. Not sure where's screening the match tonight up here. I had resigned myself to reading the kid's their bedtime stories and trying to find a live BT Sport stream on the laptop. (No jokes about my Conor Thomas rumour being a FairyTale I should read...

Connor thomas to sheff utd. (rumour)

Nor do I to be honest. One of the Guys who works for me is a mad keen Blades fan. He just had a call from one of his people that works for SUFC and came to me saying "We,ve just signed someone from your place, Conor Something?". May well be bol***, hence I use the word rumour. I'm prepared to...

Players who maybe should have stayed

Reading the thread title another way (i.e. players who should maybe should have stayed (or not been let go)) my left-field candidate is: Onandi Lowe. Caught with a car full of drugs and then had his contract terminated. Unbelievable fact is that he was later found NOT GUILTY. (it could be...

    Standing Terraces at the Ricoh

Probably posted last post in the wrong place. Not a lot to do with terraces. New to this posting lark!

    Standing Terraces at the Ricoh

I don't know we are further away than ever. SISU's game plan is to get the Ricoh on the cheap and to make it look like they are not bothered - classic negotiation technique. Another negotiation technique is to have something over (or perceived to have) the other party. Wouldn't be surprised to...

    Standing Terraces at the Ricoh

Would we have to rip it out straight away? I thought it was at the end of the third year in the Championship for newly promoted clubs - hence the Newco angle may apply? Anyway, I don't think I am alone in saying the Ricoh has better facilities than HR but lacks atmosphere. Safe standing and...

    Standing Terraces at the Ricoh

Complete Theoretical Question about the Ricoh here: If CCFC is technically a New Company / New Club playing in the lower leagues, am I right to think that it dopesn't have to have an all seater stadium? If the unlikely happened and SISU/CCFC agreed a lease / purchase of the Ricoh, would the...

    Buy Nuneaton Town ?

Totally agree, not okay to move another Town's club away from their fans, as we all (I think) know only too well. Is it the same thing to merge one at-risk Club with one playing 10 miles away and for them to play at an empty venue 5 miles from both, at a site quite near to the Nuneaton border...

    Buy Nuneaton Town ?

With regards Cov Utd., Nuneaton Town In a perverse way like the brand FCUK, the marketing potential is endless... T-Shirts:- We love CU.. 100% CU.. (alright you wouldn't but made me smile)

    Buy Nuneaton Town ?

Isn't there an opportunity / danger (depending on your view) of a merger between a distressed Nuneaton and a Coventry non-league team like the Sphinx? In the not too distant past Dagenham and Redbridge evolved from two smaller clubs and have gone on to become a lower league team. Similarly...
