Possibly a done deal, but If it is, I'd still be very suprised if he starts the first game. As I've said, he's not a bad player, but I'd rather we invested the money elsewhere, If we cant, he's a decent enough bench warmer.

I think your twisting things now to suit your own agenda. If James doesnt sign, I'm sure MR will have a back up plan.

Maybe because her contractual obligations were clearly laid out before she agreed to enter the tournament? Either way it will soon blow over, today's headlines, tomorrow's chip wrapper. She will have to deal with her own mental issues or not play on the big circuits.

I did say Eccles "could develop into the player we need" by which I mean in the future. Hopefully we will have Hamer, James, O'hare, Kelly and who knows who else competing for midfield places come the start of the season.

    Championship next season

Looking at those teams, it's going to be a tough ask to get near the top half, we definitely need to overhaul the squad, I feel like we need at least 5 first team players bringing in, and we have plenty of dead wood to move on. MR needs to be a busy boy this pre season.

I recall people being quite sympathetic at the time, (especially to Trescothick) but ultimately someone else stepped up and took his place. The sport didn't change, other than maybe having more sports psychologists involved. But Trescothick's international career was ended early as a result.

It's probably one or the other due to our budget restrictions, and 750k being a big fee for us in recent times. For me, I'd sooner we sign Walsh, he just looked a better player and a better fit for us. And as I've said, Eccles looks like he could develop into the player we need to fill the...

Hamer has been criticized for giving the ball away in dodgy areas tbf. But Hamer is also twice the talent of Sheaf and capable of being a match winner on his day. Out of interest, would you rather buy Sheaf, or drop our interest in him and use some of the money to tempt Liam Walsh?

Agreed, but when your a solo sports person, it's far more difficult to avoid the limelight, especially if your potentially capable of winning a major event. Event organisers, sponsors, paying fans, and journalists demand their pound of flesh, that's part of the game (unfortunate maybe but...

If she has mental health issues and cant cope with the media circus that surrounds big tournaments, then she did the right thing in pulling out. But I dont think anything should be done to change the way tournaments are run. Part of being a top player is learning to deal with the pressure of...

But O'hare had a massive impact last season. So much so that we were all calling for him to be signed. I don't think many would be too disappointed if we dropped our interest in Sheaf and pursued Walsh for example.

That's a bargain if you look at what they achieved. However, we are way more than 1 player away from promotion contenders.

He's ok, but likes to give the ball away in dangerous positions, and slows the game down too much for my liking, I dont rate him as much as Kelly or James, and I'd sooner put the money towards Liam Walsh's wages, and tbh, I think Eccles will do just as good job as Sheaf given time. I'm not...

The 'One season fluke' reality facing most Championship clubs

The parachute payment system does allow teams to "yo yo" between the premier league and the championship until they are strong enough to mount a realistic attempt to survive and become established in the top flight. Norwich look stronger now than they did when they Last got promoted, and I...
