And in a world where trendy Shoreditch-type white guys call each other things like "me nigga" with no shame...still, that's that London for you.

Easy there, you're not crediting him with being able to spot a good CB, are you?! Oh, hang on, this is that "sarcasm" stuff, isn't it? You had me there for a second :(

Connor Thomas out for 2 months

To quote someone who quoted his Scottish mate on here last week, "You English have it wrong about the standard of Scottish football: it's much, much worse than your media portrays it".

I'd say it's to do with the negative connotations and possible implied racism, y'know, the "black sheep"? Although it hadn't occurred to me as racist, but then I hadn't really thought about it... Anyhoo, I'm pretty certain you meant no ill will. But 'tis duh internet, innit? You'll get picked...

Why not? :thinking about: :o :)

That's it, we have no pacy wingers...hence the diamond or 433/451 being our options. I think I favour the diamond as it gives us two up front, which I really do think we need (can't ask Cody to play the lone striker role). But I also want the midfield diamond to be less compact than last season...

Fleck has to be in a free role in the hole rather than wide-right, surely? Getting shunted out wide was a major reason his career stagnated at Rangers ("Who are they? Exactly!" Baker could say..)

I wasn't debating whether Platt was good, I just said he had experience, and a side/squad needs that. I include "experience in/adaptability to a foreign league" as an important factor that will be tested with our squad. We don't know yet how the overseas signings will fare, or whether they are...

Nah, he played in the hole in a 4-4-1-1 behind the striker. Asking him to defend is like asking Sheff to track back-disastrous. AMRC is probably his best role for us, either in a 433 or the 4-1-2-1-2. I think we'll generally pick 2 from Fleck, Sheff and Baker unless one of them is up front...

Connor Thomas out for 2 months

It's a big move for him, sure, but Mid-Premiership? Celtic maybe, but the rest would all get relegated from our top flight. The rest are probably lower Championship-L1 standard at best.I think Fulham or WBA would walk the Scots Premiership.

But then Ian wouldn't be able to phone up CWR every single week to say "well...what do you think?" before slagging off David Bell!

Spoke to Carl Baker today and ...

He was head and shoulders above everyone else in the side, despite his brother dying from leukaemia during that time. He is an absolute legend at that club. And many is the time I've quoted the Stockport fan I heard on Radio 5 saying "there was nothing Carl Baker couldn't do with a football, and...

Yeah I think the official Equality and Diversity stuff says coloured is bad and black is correct. But I've been watching South Park for the last 40 minutes, my moral compass is probably shot..
  14. Nonleagueherewecome

    The Injured

My point is more about the squad/team as a whole's experience. Platt probably offered more in the dressing room than he did on the pitch. Nothing lewd insinuated :)

Well, we had a squad then..

But a team full of teenagers would not fare better than one with some experienced players. I'm not praising Platt at all. I'm just saying he has more experience than Ball or Elliott, and that experience does have some value.

    Rent

Oh, and you were talking about the division we are in: how did we get there? You saying SISU are in no way responsible for that?
  18. Nonleagueherewecome

    Rent

It's called context? We were a Championship club that they believed they would take to the Premiership. As such, they accepted the rent. It was fair then in their eyes.

    The Injured

All the same, if you are talking experience, this is black and white: Elliott-143 games (81 sub), 46 goals. Platt-469 games (102 sub), 83 goals. Claiming Elliott is more experienced due to his higher level of play is like saying a very promising young striker with one England cap is more...

    Rent

And SISU are far from innocent. I'll happily go all conspiracy and claim that relegation was all part of their "strip all costs" plan to reduce overheads, including the rent!
