Also raises the issue that some restaurants may have been intending to close/operate reduced staffing during the week but may now have to employ more (and this spend more of their cash) in the hope this scheme pays off.
Pretty underwhelming announcement all things considered.
The VAT cut is a marginal help, essentially a 12.5% price cut for hospitality and leisure. Is that going to spur people on to go away/go out? Who knows. Nice offer but is it significant enough?
Bonus for employers bringing their staff...
And hence why they couldn’t raise finance through traditional means.
Their last decade has been an absolute mess. From struggling to fill Adams Park, what have them the conviction to think a stadium the size of the Ricoh would even half-fill consistently? Considering the price differential...
You’d have to think the price at this time would be at least the £35m bond secured against it, otherwise the security would become unenforceable. In theory, yes it is saleable. In practice, no buyer would go near it.
I’m surprised other clubs at Champ level would be that interested. Don’t get me wrong, really like him as a player, but he wasn’t the shining star of someone like Walsh. Suppose as he’s free there are more clubs willing to take a punt and see how it goes...and I think I’ve just answered my own...
From what I can see he’s spent half the season injured.
Also see Marcus Browne has scored for Oxford. Would be a good alternative/complement to O’Hare.
There was another coach pulled in, just got on it and kept my head down. Was one running from a pub around Stoke Heath area. Pissing down with rain and phone had ran out of battery, so ended up walking to the Ricoh to get a lift home.
That’s a good shout actually. Actually at Middlesbrough now and has 3 years remaining on his contract, but with the fact there’s been a change of manager (Warnock) he may be available and probably wouldn’t command a hefty fee. Someone we’ve been linked with before so it’s possible.
Edit: having...
Comes down to wages. He was on £28k a week at Everton. Depends whether he feels he’s set for life off that or whether he fancies another payday. I’d take him at the right price.
Was watching that Sunderland docu-series earlier on Netflix and it reminded me of Josh Maja who went off to Bordeaux. Thought that may be an interesting one to look into - turns out he’s on €65k a week!
