    Defensive cover

Your right it does ebb and flow, some fans need to understand this and stop going nuts every time it flows not exactly the way they would like it to and realise it won't always flow that way. All teams from 1st to 24th will have ups and downs on the way but at the end of the season you will...

    Defensive cover

Nothing wrong with analysing and critiquing a particular performance. I said at the time when we went through a dry spell in front of goals that things would pick up again and Armstrong would start banging them in again and at least we were still picking up points and I was scoffed at. It just...

    Defensive cover

You forgot a few weeks ago we were struggling for goals, Armstrong had been worked out and people didn't know where the goals were coming from and it was a massive concern.

    Arma

Armstrong plays in the u19s is it? Have they announced there squad? Pretty sure he will be unavailable but hopefully not.

    Rainy day time

We've still been picking up points the last 5 weeks haven't we? In fact we are on our best run of the season

    Defensive cover

The moanings and voices of discontent have increased as our results improve, I don't understand it. We are on our best run of the season but the last 6 weeks the fans just seemed disheartened and unsatisfied for some reason.

Probably moan our goal difference isn't high enough

    Rainy day time

Mowbray is on the hunt for a new defender, have patience and he will bring in the right personal like he did in the summer. Lots of football to be played yet this season.

    Spine of the team

Think its largely dependent on either retaining Armstrong, or replacing his goals if he leaves. The squad as it stands today i.e including all loans is more than good enough to comfortably finish in the play offs. Add in a competent replacement for Reda and its good enough for auto. I'm just...

    Spine of the team

Some people are, didn't you read percy posts on the last few pages. Northampton are 5th in league 2 and probably better than quite a few teams in the bottom half of league 1 anyway so they aren't that poor. Your argument that we have a poor squad is that we failed to win with 11 players...

    Spine of the team

Yes I think it was but not a sure thing, we had 11 players unavailable and we still put out a team good enough to win the match. How does that translate then to we have a poor squad, the fact that people are saying the team was good enough to win is surely an endorsement of the squad depth?

    Spine of the team

In comparison with Man City. Yes it is poor In comparison with other league 1 teams. No it isn't
  13. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Spine of the team

The fact we managed to put out a semi competitive/recognisable team with 11 players unavailable is a success in itself.
  14. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Spine of the team

Unless your Man City you can't plan for 11 players missing (9 first team players and two fringe players)
  15. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Spine of the team

I think we have a good squad

    Aaron Phillips

Is he box to box though? I rarely see him go forward and you can probably count the number of shots he's had in his career on your hands? Does he have a good range of passing? Sure he may pick one good pass every 10 games but how many assists does he have in his career?

    Bassala Sambou

With Kent and Murphy you could always see the ability underneath still even when things aren't going their way. Can't say that about Fortune. Fortune has been completely Dr. Jekyll and Hyde, utter dross after his first game.

Northampton Town (FA Cup) Match Thread

I agree, Haynes and Lamieras should have more time but the other 4 are just dross.
  19. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Spine of the team

We had about 11 players who are on professional contracts or on loan unavailable today (RCC, Reda, Willis, Vincelot, Kent, Maddison, Cole, Tudgay, Armstrong, Lawton, Finch) The fact we even managed to put out a semi competitive team is a testament to the strength in depth, 18 months ago we...

    Aaron Phillips

I was one who thought he would do well this season and make right back his spot, how wrong I was he clearly doesn't have the mentality or temperament to make it.
