    Not sure it says that.

That’s the question. At the time I believe a deal was done that GR and others would get their money back with SISU upon Prem return. CCC had no control of the admin at the time - just an interest in the previous JV. FFS.

He also states SISU have written off £40m - I’d say they parked that elsewhere not wrote off. He’s not going to say “thanks CCC for doing a deal to save me some more money” - doesn’t read well with the voters, which ultimately…..

Things could have been so different. That bit had passed me by - too many former Coventry schoolboys called Gary H wanting to buy in to the club at the time to keep track !

At that point (2013): Non-paying SISU / CCFC had left GR acting as rent guarantor. The council took on the debt and in effect the need for ACL to enforce guarantees against GR which a liquidator of ACL may well have done otherwise.

    Yes. Where’s the issue?

I stated that SISU had a chance - not that they were supportive. GR was of course bitter at losing his money.

I don’t see your point. That GR had guarantees legally for the rent is relevant. That the council did what they did is why we are here.

Some people believe CCC weren’t 100% above board in bringing the Wasps in to buy a stadium built on the back (to a large degree) of CCFC. I’m trying to look at other reasons why. This whole saga has brought us to a point of change, either for better or worse. The background squeaking of...

I used to think you had a modicum of sense and you continue to disappoint https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/ricoh-deal-mp-geoffrey-robinson-2822995 Of course he would ask for a change of rental agreements.

That the whole thing soured once GR had lost his money isn’t particularly controversial I don’t think.

Yes. Back the the council was Tory for a while and SISU had some chance. When it switched to Labour and GR had lost his money is when the whole anti-SISU thing started.

Other than posters trying to deduce if CCC have been anti- SISU in the past and why that might be beyond the obvious. Also, with GR not so influential whether there is a change in sentiment - it may be relevant short order.

Yep, I was editing at the time. You are correct. My simple observation is who Ken Taylor was and his relationship with GR.

It’s this article, right? https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/sky-blues-face-bleak-future-3105889 Not arguing - KT called the offer derisory and GR would not have had a penny back. It is interesting that not long after, it appears GR agreed to a deal that seemingly secured...

Don’t recall that at the “saviour” time. Maybe buying the golden share out it admin time but not before. Link?

Another angle: Did a rather annoyed (at SISU for in his eyes fleecing him for £20m) Labour MP Geoffrey Robinson have any influence over Labour elected councillors? Perhaps why they didn’t give SISU a helping hand with the Arena. Geoff was MP up until 2019. Labour councillors with bigger...

I can’t recall at the time but yes, there’s no doubt CCFC was a basket case heading for admin. SISU “saved us from admin”. The reality is that the “saving” was just delaying.

It does seem that certain individuals in the council have a history of getting too big for their boots. They seem to want to play big secret business players when they are actually just civil servants. If it goes wrong then it’s never their money - it’s taxpayers - council fools can walk away.

Everyone has different views. It could be argued that when we had the “twenty mins from admin” situation had SISU not been around another buyer may have come in, or, we entered admin (as we did later anyway) and someone else take over whilst we had less debt and 10 points knocked. Maybe the...
