    2 point average per game

On current PPG our forecast points are now 21 points ahead of 3rd place and 28 points ahead of Ipswich. For further context current PPG would see us 40 points ahead of Birmingham, Leicester, Wrexham and West Brom. Every other team in the division requires at least 2 PPG to make 90 points v our...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

That’s probable, but I’m not sure I’m that comfortable with moving away from the model that’s been successful so far.

    25/26 January Transfer Window

Both are unrealistic models for us to follow (£165m spent by Sunderland?). We’re going do have to bring in a a lot of players with potential to supplement our existing squad and hope it clicks well enough to get 4th from bottom.

    2 point average per game

If our target is two points per game then we need 16 points from those 11 to stay on track, with possibly easier games to come after. 5 wins and a draw would seem to be achievable. Would we really be expecting 5 defeats though?

    2 point average per game

Yes that would be amazing, though a draw away and a home win would be significant too.

    2 point average per game

They probably need to beat us twice just to close the gap. There are lots of examples of teams doing the double but finishing below that team (Derby last season?).

    Toughest 5 so far?

We now need roughly 18 points from every 10 games to make 90 points, which I believe will secure top 2. Even in your most pessimistic moment do you see us achieving less than that?

    Next block of 5

Bank 9 points from the next 3 and those games won’t be as vital. Mind you the pressure is all on the chasing pack now.

Good, it’s become a bit overgrown recently!

    Rivals for auto spots

A couple of interesting pointers using PPG. At the current PPG, Boro in 3rd are tracking for 85 points, with every team below 6th requiring at least 2 PPG to achieve this total. It means the likes of Birmingham and Ipswich need a serious upturn in their away form simply to achieve the 85...

    Championship thread 25/26!

It’s unfair to bracket Burnley with those two clubs. Historically a big club with major trophies and 60 seasons in the top flight.

    Sam McCallum

No, but looking at our left back cover he would be an excellent squad addition.

    Keeping Lampard

If you wanted to name the most similar club to Coventry in terms of size and history it would be Southampton. This is the ultimate definition of a sideways move.

    Awfull tactics from lampard

Of course it’s completely unrealistic to expect never to lose. In the long run this game will probably prove to be a good thing ala Portsmouth last season.

    Awfull tactics from lampard

No, but I think he let it play out. He said himself he could see the way things were going, but still did nothing at half time.

    Awfull tactics from lampard

My gut feeling is Lampard sacrificed this game for the greater good. He decided taking too many risks with players carrying minor injuries was not worth it. He also released the pressure valve of remaining undefeated and it gives him the chance to reset and go again, albeit that may be after...

    Yes, because they’re actually midfielders!

    Championship thread 25/26!

If that’s the case I think we need to see Eccles or Torp back in with one of the forwards dropping out. We need to control the midfield more than last Saturday.

Do teams that are winning the championship after 12 games tend to get promoted?

Some teams come unstuck because they have a big squad and there is discord at the lack of playing time. It’s not an exact science due to the unpredictability of injuries and loss of form.
