That second half was really drab. As soon as Poland switched from 3 at the back to 4 they got a lot more of the ball further up the pitch. Then we lost our width and the entire shape just went to shit. Bench was uninspiring.

Thought we played reasonably well in the first half. Controlled things and created a few openings against a pretty decent team who seem content to sit back.

I largely agree with that article, but it’s a little far fetched to claim Rice couldn’t play that holding role himself in a game where we had 75% possession. I’m also not sold on Kalvin Phillips at all. Yesterday I’d have played Rice and Mount, or even just Rice and Ward-Prowse.
