    Wasps downward spiral...

But he doesn't see the double standard of the second team needing a bailout to pay its bills without having to give up its rights to the stadium like the first club did.

Memory is getting fuzzy. But when CCC "bailed out" ACL(2003??) they took 50% of the shares? The value of that bail out? We didn't get something for nothing. Look at the grief that caused further down the line

Spends her time complaining about not enough govt and local government money for all sorts of social issues etc then wants to prop up a company owned by a wealthy businessman.

it's absolute garbage. The owners of professional sports teams might believe they don't have to operate in the fiscal world but they do. This isn't old Wild west of sports team ownership when rich local people ran them on a whim and as a personal toy. Once you get into debt you are in the...

Wondering if the sources of new finance for Wasps bond have figured it's going to cost around 13 million to repair/renovate the Arena to bring it up to a realistic value that actually is enough to serve as a guarantee for the value of the bond.

My objections aren't as such against Wasps fans etc. It's the notion that so many official bodies have gone out of their way to help them when we didn't get the same levels of support - basically because of who our owners were. People were so intent in forcing SISU out taking into account what...

Seems optimistic Wasps and Rugby fans in general are missing some of the overall picture. Reduction in salary caps and only one marquee player may help lower costs but going to weaken appeal of the sport as fewer (if any) big foreign stars will join - can earn much more in France and Japan...

How about Richardson writes off his loans that would make bond refinancing easier;) We were always fed stories about how much money certain ccfc directors wrote off to try and help their club

Can't see the bond refinancing going to allow stadium to be used as security for another loan

Just can't see this being labelled as a straight bail-out. Going to be some new project that is overvalued. Building social housing on one of the car parks ;)

Is it within the remit of WMCA to bail out businesses? Thought it was about developing new ones etc. Suppose immediate area of interest could be housing & planning projects !!

Incredible innings by Bairstow. 2 500 run 1st innings scores should scream dull draw.

Tim Fisher interview in The Athletic

Makes sense to me. It's a different variation of what a large part of the stadium argument has been about - importance of non-matchday revenue streams. Even more important now we're in the "Championship salary competition/bloodbath".

so what do you think are the consistent gates Wasps can achieve if they manage these consistent results etc whilst operating within the confines of a salary cap and (for now) lower gates than most of the other clubs?

Dislike amongst some City fans one issue but the antipathy amongst the larger Coventry public to Wasps or Rugby in general isn't going to turn around Wasps finances either. is there such a thing as a rugby marquee signing that can put 000s on the gate like certain footballers can? Can't argue...
