Never heard of that site & suspect the way they track isn't the same (and possibly not as thorough with verification) as the well known stats providers. For example he didn't hit the post v Huddersfield, it was off the defender. The 1 v Rotherham was actually saved onto the post by the keeper...

Don't disagree with that at all. I think we are massively unbalanced as a squad & the wealth of attacking talent masks a whole host of problems behind them. The centre backs lack pace, all of the defence have a mistake in them, including the goalkeeper, & the Midfield is almost as problematic.

Need to be a bit careful with those kind of stats though because as you say the style of the teams play makes a massive difference. Burnley play probably 90% of their football in a low block, making lots of tackles, contesting a lot of high % balls, the top teams obviously don't play that way...

Certainly was a deserved criticism of him previously & he lost his place in both the City & England teams as a result. However he has been superb this year &, with the exception of last night, had pretty much managed to eradicate that from his game. Let's not pile on by far our best defender...

There's usually a cut off date around the start of the season for eligibility. Don't think he's long turned 19 so would almost certainly be eligible for U18s.

Just 2 goals from Corners is awful.

It's not worked out as hoped no but stupid signing is harsh. It's a very small outlay on a young player with potential & you can see he has a lot of attributes. For whatever reason, we've failed to tap into that potential. Many such signings won't work out, others do, that's the model we have.

I'm sure they couldn't when he scored as we absolutely thumped them last time we met & they're now in League 2 whilst we're in the Championship.

This I agree with. I don't think the formation has been the issue in the last couple of games, it was the choice of personnel in that midfield (and the selection of Biamou as the striker). Although I certainly wouldn't call Hamer "defensive minded" he's definitely better operating from deeper...

Pretty sure he said it's not as simple as 2 up front = More goals like most think but that he'd switch between 1 up & 2 up depending on the opposition & situation.

Yeah, agreed. He scored most of his goals at Lincoln as a lone striker but not sure how well he'd play that role for us because, as we've all said, we ask an awful lot of the striker. Robins has been quite open about the fact he wants to pair Walker & Godden though, hopefully we can finally get...

Fair comments & I don't disagree. He sought him out to get promoted from League 2 & consolidate in League 1 though which he helped with. We evolved though in order to get promoted again to the Championship & that's obviously where he felt he wouldn't be as effective. This was what Robins said a...

    Aidy Boothroyd

Of course but in developing them you'd want to see some signs of progression. Do you think taking a collection of Premier League regulars to zero Shots on Target from open play in 2 consecutive games against weaker opposition is a sign that he's developing them?

We evolved as a team since his initial signing though. He did a decent job for us in League 2 but then we progressed into a team playing a different style which obviously JCH struggled with. In fairness, as Evo & Shmmeee said, not many strikers have thrived in it but Godden was a perfect fit...

Robins has been quite open about this, said he just didn't suit the way we wanted to play & has said he's pleased that he's doing well elsewhere. In the end it's worked out for the best for both parties.

    Aidy Boothroyd

He has a great deal of coaching qualifications so fair play to him for that. However he got in to the England setup (initially as U20s manager) as he's close, personal friends with then FA 'Director of Elite Development' Dan Ashworth. He'd just been sacked by Northampton, leaving them bottom of...

    Aidy Boothroyd

Boothroyd is an utter, abject failure in that role. Which should come as no surprise to anyone who watched his club management career. How can you bemoan that talent steps up to the senior squad? That's literally the nature of the job & the same happens in most other U21 squads. Spain top...
