    Austerity is dead?

I can see why you call hypocrisy. Boris has always been a champion of investment in infrastructure. As soon as Javid went, you knew they'd splash the cash in this budget. Bit of a kick-back already from some on the right and talk of magic money trees. I think it is needed and welcome.

    Chill

After 34 games last season, Sunderland's record was W18 D14 L2, so 1 point better off than us and a very similar record. To think they ended up 5th from that position. Not saying this will happen to us, but it does illustrate how a team pretty much unbeatable for most of the season can suddenly...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Shrewsbury Town Match Thread - Saturday 14th Mar

I worry about this game. Think it will be quite flat in the ground compared to Rotherham and Sunderland. Also, ticket sales look really poor in the circumstances, a few days to go though so hope they pick up. They'll be an air of expectancy in the ground, which is natural when you're top of the...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

The UK is relatively unaffected at the moment, relatively. We're only at 4.7 cases per 1 million population, compared to Italy at 122, Spain 22 and Germany and France in the high teens. The daily increase in cases also doesn't seem to be accelerating in the way it is in other countries...

Whose got their Accrington tickets then?

Picked up my full quota of 16 this morning. They should go quite quick.

    New hotel at Ricoh

Like the way the CT have run an article showing an image of one of their other proposed hotels in a completely different location. Always on the ball that mob.

    New hotel at Ricoh

I would have thought so. Objections based on the design might not be considered material, but regardless if they were to receive a series of objections on that basis, I believe it will force the decision to committee anyway. Equally, there could be an objection on the loss of parking...

    New hotel at Ricoh

Doesn't it. For a highly visible location in a gateway location (the busiest route into the city), we should be expecting better. The surrounding area does look like a set for Mad Max, so surely we should be using proposals like this to raise the profile of the area and not to just 'fit in'...

    Away record

It's weird. I guess the problem is that there is almost zero negativity from the crowd at the moment. There may be the odd comment, but it's generally so positive. This annoys some people, because moaning about the crowd is one of their favourite things, so they've now resorted to trawling...

Player of the season so far

Dabo or Walsh for me, but you can make a case for several others. So much talent in the squad, but matched with spirit, endeavour and leadership all over the pitch. Never has a city side been more fit to wear the shirt.

    Portman Road

Maybe not better in terms of facilities than those two, but a better ground? Absolutely. Give me that over that travesty in MK any day.

    Ipswich trouble

I guess I'm just not very observant. Go to pretty much all away games, and make frequent visits to the facilities (bladder not what it used to be, it's a worrying sign), but have not once seen a smashed up toilet. Not ever. Since when is this the norm? Must be me.

    Ipswich trouble

It should be said that our away support has been outstanding this season. Loud, proud, travelled in numbers, positive, respectful and impeccably behaved overall. A real credit to the club and city. Couple of exceptions. Rotherham away was edgy, and the incident yesterday, which I couldn't see...

    Sunderland game

So people get a bit edgy during a game and post the odd irrational comment. Why does it matter? MR and Liam Kelly aren't logged into SBT in the 70th minute. I probably murmured a few of those comments during a stressful second half, but coming out of the ground was saying how well we played...

Meeting with Joy Seppala & Dave Boddy - Thursday 27th February 2020

But only when they are asked the question really. I'm like you, I'll believe it when I see it, and would very much welcome it tbh. I get a sense, just a sense, that they are perhaps seriously exploring the option this time. MR does not strike me as someone who suffer's fools or who is willing...

Meeting with Joy Seppala & Dave Boddy - Thursday 27th February 2020

So what, so they've cried wolf. The point is, nobody believes it, they probably realise that. Working on the slim chance that they intend to follow through this time, identifying a site and submitting a detailed planning application at this time possibly wouldn't be helpful in the Ricoh...

Meeting with Joy Seppala & Dave Boddy - Thursday 27th February 2020

Look at it the other way round though. Put aside the history on this issue and also the scepticism and assume for one minute that they are serious this time. Why then, right now, would they be making announcements, submitting planning applications, when it is quite clear that we would first...

What’s needed in the next 11 games?

I find the supreme confidence of some a little unnerving (not so much on here, but some fans have reached peak gloat on social media and it's adding to my anxiety). There is a long way to go. Bad runs and dips in form can happen. Our worst 11 game run this season yielded only 12 points out of...

    Sunderland fans crying "again"

Am ex player of theirs was interviewed last week, trying to remember who it was, and basically said the fans there are the worst he's encountered for getting on players backs. Thought their support was poor today. Numbers were great obviously, but man for man just about the worst we'd had at...
