Shipley reminds me a bit of how John Eustace was for us years ago: gets in good positions through sheer hard work / reading the game well, but then doesn't have the skill to take advantage of them. Still think he is a useful member of the squad even though he had a mare last night.

As a loan signing he'd be good for us - he's decent in the air for a start. At 28 he's probably too old for us to sign permanently in the hope that his value will increase for re-sale though.

Unlike some on here, I think this is more about bad luck (i.e. Forest's change of manager) than bad handling on our part. I think MR and Chris Badlan will have other strikers in mind. Not that worried if we get someone in for Saturday or not - but we certainly need someone in before end of August.

Forgot to say, thought Pask looked excellent when he came on... He will be a valuable asset for us off the bench if Hyam / McFadzean are struggling against a pacy striker.

I thought Shipley was not that effective today, but what pleased me was how often he got into the box in the 2nd half - he will score a reasonable number of goals this season.

Thoughts on game: Allen presses the opposition very well up the field, works tirelessly and composed on the ball. Defensively we were a bit lucky at times - think our lack of pace through the middle will cost a few goals. Jobello whipped in a few decent low crosses across the box which a goal...
